Attention Commercial Landlords: EPC Band C Deadline Looms 🚨 Did you know that by 2025, new regulations in the UK will require all newly let commercial properties to meet a minimum EPC Band C rating? This change is a cornerstone of the government’s net-zero strategy, but it also represents a significant challenge for landlords managing older or energy-inefficient properties. At UpGreen, we’re helping property owners navigate this shift seamlessly. We identify high-ROI retrofit opportunities, finance upfront costs, and streamline installations, ensuring compliance without disrupting your operations. 🏢 Are your properties ready for the 2025 deadline? 👉 Learn about your cost and carbon impact: https://lnkd.in/e5GFW8p2 Full article in comments 👇

We have been featured in Property Industry Eye for our latest data showing the likely impact of new EPC targets in the private rental sector. Our analysis shows that 63% of privately rented homes in England, Scotland, and Wales will need upgrades to meet the government's proposed energy efficiency standards by 2030. This equates to more than 2.3 million homes, with a significant proportion located in London and the South East. Giles Mackay, our founder, highlights the need for a straightforward and beneficial green finance scheme for landlords to support these upgrades, noting the importance of avoiding complex processes. Last September, proposed regulations for all private rental properties to have a minimum EPC rating of C were shelved, but research indicates that 37% of portfolio landlords intend to go ahead and improve the energy performance of their properties anyway. Of the landlords who are carrying on with improvements, 28% expect that it will take one to two years for all their properties to hit a C rating. Not everyone is so keen on making upgrades if it is not a legal requirement; 16% of landlords surveyed have paused their plans until legislation is introduced. https://lnkd.in/eBHETW_x

With buildings accounting for 39% of energy-related carbon emissions, it’s going to take both private sector and government action to reach net-zero targets. In a recent interview, Maria Vargas, director of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Better Buildings Initiative, discussed how a significant portion of money spent on powering commercial buildings is wasted unnecessarily. Today’s building owners have their choice of effective solutions to both increase efficiency and cut costs. “Our partners know that energy efficiency and emissions reduction remain a constant, effective and advantageous business strategy,” Vargas said.
