Speed cameras just catch people exceeding an arbitrary limit, they don't catch bad or dangerous or impaired driving. Or at least until now. Those of us who've been driving for a while build up a collection of things we subconsciously watch out for when observing those we share the road with. Often we'll pick up on small (and not so small) cues which advise our decision making. We know who's going to drive like an absolute 'you know what', who's going to dither, who's going to take a stupid risk and who we should keep as far away from as we can. Cameras don't pick any of that up... or at least they didn't use to. Thanks to A.I and the latest machine learning technologies, traffic cameras can already catch those not wearing seatbelts or drivers using their phones. They are now also being trained to pick up on the nuances of driver behaviour which normally we only acquire after years on the road and feeding that data to Police for targeted stops. https://lnkd.in/dpser3VP
