The #AgriFoodSystem needs an integrated approach for its sustainability. There is need for a paradigm shift from conventional agriculture to sustainable agriculture as envisioned in #SDG2. Agroecological practices, that are climate smart, ensure that we have enough, safe and clean food in the midst of #climatechange. This is made possible through implementation of key #agroecology principles that cut across from #production to #consumption. Creating an enabling environment for #sustainableagriculture through policy advocacy is key. Today, the technical working group in Kakamega County came together to continue drafting an Agroecology Strategy for the county. #REALMS #SOCAA #SNV #Regenerativeagriculture

How do we shape a sustainable future for agriculture? Lauren Ferstandig from The Nature Conservancy, our partner on the RRG Sustainable Water Impact Fund (SWIF), addressed this vital question at The Global Impact Investing Network Impact Forum recently in her talk, "Agriculture has shaped our history; now we need to shape its future." Lauren spotlighted the impactful example of Maria Paz Chadwick, a Chilean farmer working with us in SWIF. Her transition to regenerative agriculture showcases how sustainable investing strategies can help drive meaningful change in farming practices and community resilience. Our RRG colleague Mackenzie Colgan Reinoso was in the audience and she raves about how well this story illustrates our approach to creating value for investors and partners in sustainable real assets – and delivering positive social and environmental outcomes at the same time. And the good news is, it’s just one example. We see similar stories across sectors and geographies: •Sustainable Agriculture – where you can build high-value, vertically integrated companies like our colleagues L. Lloys Frates and Jesse Last and the rest of the team at Frutura. •Water Resilience – like our colleagues Tim Allan and Kelford (Kel) Mitchel and Clifton Lollar are doing up and down the US West with innovative water solutions aiming to build needed groundwater storage infrastructure, improve aquifer health, and support sustainable supplies for farmers. • Biodiversity and Habitat Conservation – like our colleague James Loechel and the Australia team are implementing in commercial farming developments like Manta Farms. Catch Lauren’s insights on The Nature Conservancy’s YouTube channel and join the conversation. Together, we can explore innovative solutions to shape a sustainable agricultural future. What’s your vision for the future of agriculture? #SustainableAgriculture #WaterResilience #RegenerativeFarming #GlobalImpact #Innovation #SustainableInvesting https://lnkd.in/eBjNEM4X

Good compilation. Yesterday, I read a post and quoted,'' Principle is indivisible; it is either wholly kept or wholly sacrificed" JO. The quote reminded me how we keep creating #principles and when they reach implementation we start sacrificing some, in favor of others. In due course, the so-called principles are actually 'good to consider implementation factors'. Similarly, #agroecology is challenged by the many 'principles' implementers and assessors may wonder how to adapt. I am happy this article is trying to give a structure, something that should have come out at the beginning of the principle #conceptualization. My case is informed by experiences from promoting integrated water resources management (#IWRM) an approach for improving water resources management but it took many years to realize this, and the results have been evident. The questions remain though; at whatever level, what should be kept whole, and what should be sacrificed?
How can the 13 principles of #agroecology be applied to create eco-friendly #food and agriculture systems? 🚜🥕 Discover more in our new study! Vital lessons from five innovative projects include: 1️⃣Developing systemic approaches for food systems transformation. 2️⃣Creating strategies that empower rural women and generate community benefits. 3️⃣Employing interdisciplinary methods to integrate biodiversity protection into agricultural practices. Agroecology is more than just farming; it covers the entire journey of food from production to consumption, integrating ecological, socio-cultural, technological, economic, and political dimensions for a holistic approach to environmental stewardship. Read our new study now and learn about the transformative potential of agroecology!
