The agricultural transition requires a shake of hands rather than and invisible hand. Climate-KIC supports place-based #partnerships among farmers, businesses, communities, governments and environmental organizations. These complex partnerships do not happen by themselves. They require careful #curation and #facilitation to build connective tissue, joint action plans and conducive regulatory and financial conditions. These partnerships are also about regenerating the way we connect and act together as a human ecosystem. #systeminnovation

Regenerative agriculture is transforming how we grow food, restore ecosystems, and fight climate change. One example? Adopting integrated landscape management 🌱🌳 There is a wealth of evidence that regenerative practices - such as growing cover crops, agroforestry, or integrating crop and livestock production on farms - can rebuild soil health, protect water resources, restore biodiversity and strengthen communities. How are we doing this? EIT Climate-KIC is partnering with farmers, communities, businesses, and governments through initiatives such as 1000 Landscapes For 1 Billion People, helping define a long-term transformation strategy and adaptive action plans from individual farms to entire regions. Recent reports from the Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY) have examined opportunities to enhance and promote regenerative farming practices to address environmental change, upgrade food system resilience, and advance labourer and local area prosperity. 🌿 The first report, “Bridging the Regenerative Agriculture Financing Gap”, proposes innovative financing solutions for regenerative agriculture, aiming to address outdated models, low returns, and cultural disparities between farmers and investors. "Traditional financing tools are woefully outdated, but fortunately there are many firms who are taking a better approach. This report highlights many of them, so we can advance the conversation on how we as an agriculture community can better support regenerative farmers in their work," said report author Colin Custer. 🌱 The second report, “Surf to Turf: Linking Regenerative Agriculture and Restorative Aquaculture in Coastal Foodscapes”, explores sea-to-soil connections, showcasing best practices and opportunities for food system transformation on land and at sea. “The collective future of the world’s oceans and soils, and the communities who depend upon both, will be shaped by how we grow, harvest, transport, and consume our food today,” said report author Kelly McGlinchey.
