When will automated #BorderCrossing become reality? ✈️ The soaring number of travelers worldwide is calling for solutions to make border crossings more efficient. Automated border crossing technologies can address issues such as long queues at #airport checkpoints, annoyed passengers, and stressed officials. Automation technologies, such as those developed by our joint venture Veridos, can streamline processes along the entire passenger journey – from the collection of personal data via Digital Travel Authorizations (DTAs) before the journey to #biometric verification, e.g. in eKiosks and #eGates. With biometric technology, a seamless traveler experience becomes possible. However, the implementation of a biometric corridor that allows for frictionless travel is still being tested globally. While some technological solutions, such as face recognition on the move, are already feasible, others, such as iris #verification, remain challenging. Frictionless border crossing is thus something we can expect in the future – but we are not quite there yet. It is also important to note that even with automated procedures, human supervision will always be required to ensure that the highest security demands are met.
