When women and girls are provided with the right knowledge and skills, they can transform not just their own lives but also entire communities which is why our Digital Skills Accelerator for Women and Girls(DSA) program is designed to rightly position women and girls to access opportunities that can foster economic empowerment and inform societal change We continue to record incredible impact and progress among the girls in the secondary schools where our Digital Skills for Learning program is being implemented with many of them mastering the basic skills in mobile technology usage, operational, information navigation, social and online communication, and digital creativity within few weeks of program implementation. More so, their budding interest in STEM careers as a result of this program also proves to us that our program is set in the right direction of preparing and producing digitally literate adolescent girls who will be able to contribute to digital innovations in the workplace a few years from now! This in turn will significantly contribute to reducing the current high percentage of gender disparity in digital access for women and girls as we believe that empowered women with digital skills go on to become innovators and creators rather than just consumers. Today we’re celebrating International Youth Day 2024. At Coca-Cola HBC, we passionately believe that every young person has the potential to thrive.     Our #YouthEmpowered programme aims to train one million young people by 2025 so they are equipped with the skills, experience and confidence they need to secure a brighter future.  So far, as a Group we have trained 944,948 young people – so we’re confident we’ll meet our target, as our Business Unit is very committed to do so!   Last year, more than 4,000 young people from Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania came together for our #Skills4Future hybrid event, which focused on the four essential competencies (4C): cooperation, creativity, communication and critical thinking, exploring how these skills - along with AI - play a crucial role in youth development. And during the 2023/24 school year, more than 2,000 school students participated in webinars on these same competencies. And we don't stop there - the next edition is coming soon. Out of 10,000 applications, you have been selected for the prestigious TechSis 2024 cohort. Remember, while the program is free, it is not without value. Someone has invested in you to acquire essential digital skills that will shape your future. The job market is evolving, prioritizing skills over traditional degrees. This change emphasizes adaptability, technical proficiency, and practical experience. Upon completing these courses, you will possess the skill sets needed to excel in the workforce. Today, 1,000 individuals are starting this journey. While not all will finish, I urge you not to be among those who drop out. The road ahead won’t be easy, but many have succeeded before you, and you can too. We will continue to advocate for women education especially in tech and highlighting how important it is to shift the focus to equipping African youths with 21st-century skills for the economic and social development of the continent.
