A note to our community from Giving Green founder and executive director, Dr. Daniel Stein, a week after the US election: "In light of the US election results, we know many are concerned about what this means for the future of our climate. There is no denying that we have a tough four years ahead of us. At Giving Green, our work is rooted in the big picture. We understand that the road to climate mitigation and decarbonization is a long one with many ups and downs. In the face of setbacks, we will stay focused and keep moving in the right direction. We want to reassure our community that we have long been preparing for this moment. Our research and recommendations are guided by a long-term, global strategy that accounts for multiple levers of systems change. This includes policy—on an international, state, and federal level—as well as technology development, market shaping, building social license, and more. We have our work cut out for us, but we are up to the challenge. As are our Top Nonprofits, Giving Green Fund grantees, and the rest of the climate movement." 🔍 Read the full statement here, plus thoughts from some of our Top Nonprofits, Clean Air Task Force, The Good Food Institute, and Industrious Labs: https://lnkd.in/egjJTni7 ⚡ More from Clean Air Task Force here: https://lnkd.in/gaW8B9zq 🍔 More from The Good Food Institute in AgFunderNews here: https://lnkd.in/efiKBti7 #climateaction #climatephilanthropy

It's #WorldEnvironmentDay today and I can't think of a better way to spend it than with my colleagues and our brilliant supporters at our annual Summer Reception. Our favourite brewers, Toast Brewing, have provided a fantastic venue and we're really excited to have Joycelyn Longdon and Kevin McCloud joining us to speak about climate justice and campaigning in an Election year. There's never been a more important time to be a friend of the earth. We must urge our leaders to: - Commit to climate action where we all benefit from a clean, green future - Create a fair, effective new climate action plan to meet climate goals - Enshrine the right to a healthy environment into law - Ensure companies are held legally accountable for environmental destruction and injustices - Invest in a council-led home insulation programme to bring down bills and emissions Join Friends of the Earth in holding our leaders to account. It’s time to put people and planet first. #BeAFriendOfTheEarth #UKPolitics #Politics #ClimateAction #ProtectNature #GeneralElection

Sounds a lot like the Big Oil War-Room in the Alberta Tarsands Tarnation, Yeehaw, Eh?⚠️🤠⚠️ The Guardian - Ava Sasani : New York lobbyists ‘aiding & abetting’ climate crisis, research reveals. Lobbying firms work double-duty, representing political interests of victims and perpetrators of climate change in state capital New research reveals that dozens of New York universities, hospitals, museums and non-profits are employing lobbyists that also work for fossil fuel companies, which some say is blatantly “aiding and abetting” climate crisis. New York’s wealthiest lobbying firms work double-duty in the state capital, representing the political interests of both the victims and perpetrators of the climate crisis, according to a new report from F Minus, a database of state-level lobbying disclosures released last year, and LittleSis, a project created by the non-profit corporate and government accountability watchdog Public Accountability Initiative.

To save humanity, we need to reclaim the Green agenda from the Green Party. Just look at its manifesto https://lnkd.in/eeDzZp36 Greenpeace policies Climate Nos 4,5,6,8,10, Nature 2,Homes 4,5,7,9 Justice 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10 Are NOT GREEN POLICIES, most are Trotskyist in addition Policies Climate 1,2,3, Nature 1,3,4,5,6,8,9 Homes 1,3,6, Justice 4 are in my opinion process, rather than actual "green" policies. Then of course the local, national and global interests of humanity and human society are totally ignored. This is a manifesto for human extinction!

The US presidential election was averted with Democratic candidate Biden dropping out and Vice President Harris taking the field, but there is still no room for distraction until the election is held and the results are known. The actions of Trump to impede climate change policies implemented during his presidency have become a major negative asset. It is true that if funds were not allocated to climate change measures and instead allocated to effective economic measures, the economy would receive significant temporary benefits, but the harm and loss of valuable time lost to the climate change issue would be far greater than the benefits of such a mistaken choice. In addition, the influence of the conservative majority on the Supreme Court, a negative asset left by Trump, is creating major obstacles in the judicial arena, in addition to the problems caused by the rejection of the "Chevron Doctrine" mentioned in this article. Currently, many of Trump's supporters are wealthy, and there is a concern that his support for fossil fuel-related companies in particular will lead to a major setback in climate change policies.

Stand back and admire: A refreshingly volatile mixture, this is excellent. The TRUTH about dangerous politicians denying climate crisis, backed up with data, evidence and fact Tx to Zoe Cohen for posting
Are your election candidates and political parties delaying climate action while accepting fossil fuel money? 🚨 Reform UK is taking 92% (£2.3 million) of its funding from fossil fuel companies, high-polluting industries, and climate science deniers. The Conservative Party is taking £8.4 million from the same sector. 🚨Many election candidates and their parties are accepting money from these sources while denying and delaying climate action. 🚨 Some candidates also have strong ties to anti net zero think tanks like Graham Stringer of the Labour Party, who is director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation. We have unveiled our Top 10 Climate Denial Candidates and the Top 10 Best Climate Candidates. Our election panel, chaired by climate investigative outlet DeSmog, features esteemed judges such as Mike Berners-Lee, Baroness Boycott, musician Brian Eno, environmental journalist lucy siegle, author Laline Paull, and MP Watch citizens. It’s hard to believe that EESI began educating Congress on environmental policy way back in 1984, the same year that Tina Turner first asked, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” As a young organization in the '80s, EESI became one of the first nonprofits to call on policymakers to look at all energy policy through a comprehensive climate lens. A lot has changed over four decades, but one thing that remains the same is EESI’s leadership in guiding informed policy debates on pressing climate issues. Join us as we commemorate 40 years of bipartisan climate action, and make a gift today to help power the next 40 years and beyond: https://ow.ly/cJOZ50QQqBj #EESIat40 #Congress #ClimateAction #Environment #Energy #Nonprofit

With Election Day less than two weeks away, what we know for sure is that its California’s responsibility is to win the House. We have more seats up for grab here than any other state (2 defense and 5 flip)…more than needed to secure a majority. With California being the political financial and volunteer driver nationally, we can’t be so focused on other states that we lose the House because we neglected investing here at home. Many of the congressional seats that are up for grabs were won or lost by a few votes in past cycles; regardless of what happens with the presidential election we have to win the House. Similarly, if you care about climate action and justice – state leadership will be our best chance at making big progress after November. California plays the unique role as the 5th largest economy in the world of setting the bar globally and creating the policy roadmap for action. While we don’t yet have an environmental majority in the state Senate or Assembly, we have the opportunity to get really close this year and transform our chances of getting bolder policies passed and implemented that will have international ripple effects. You can find California Environmental Voters' voter guide here: https://lnkd.in/ghW8nDSH. If you are still looking for ways to invest before it’s too late, please consider giving to the Elect Climate Champions Fund (https://lnkd.in/g6pDuhzP) to help get climate justice candidates across the finish line. Thank you for all you are doing to save our country and our future – two more weeks!

Many days, when I think about my daughter's future, I’m filled with frustration—and fear—over the powerful interests shaping laws that will harm our communities. I have to fight back that despair because I know that every bit of progress means a little more hope and less struggle for her generation. 🌍 Initiative 2117, driven by hedge fund manager Brian Heywood and his group Let’s Go Washington, is a dangerous attempt to undo critical progress on climate action in Washington State. If passed, it would strip billions in investment from essential community priorities—like air quality, transportation, fish habitat restoration, and wildfire prevention. It would also shift the burden of paying for pollution onto local communities and families. 🚨 What’s at stake if I-2117 passes? More toxic air pollution and wildfires 🌫️🔥, leading to more kids and seniors suffering from asthma and heart conditions. Slashed funding for clean air programs, school modernization, and clean transportation 🚌, hurting the communities most impacted by pollution. One-third of funding for our already strained transportation system 🛣️ would be cut, delaying or canceling major road and bridge projects. Reduced ferry and transit services ⛴️, including cutting the program that provides free transit passes for people under 18. Tribal Nations would lose crucial environmental leadership funding, shifting the pollution burden onto these communities. 🧑🤝🧑 What’s happening with I-2117 is not just a Washington State issue—it’s part of a larger global trend 🌎. Around the world, we are seeing some seedy corporate and oil interests working to weaken environmental protections and spread misinformation. This is why the term glocal is so important—local actions like voting against I-2117 have global consequences, and what happens here affects us all. 🌱 Are you seeing these trends in your community? How do you stay informed and fight back against disinformation and shaded money influence? #NoOn2117 #ClimateAction #DemocracyMatters #VoteLocal Alice Shobe Grace Yoo Akhtar Badshah Farhan S. Mary said it best! California has such a pivotal role to play in this election. With so many seats in play, it's so important that we stay laser-focused on ensuring our state delivers the majority needed to hold the House. We can't afford to underestimate the power of every single vote, especially given how narrow past margins have been. California has the ability to set global standards and create bold policy shifts, making it even more important for us to strive for an environmental majority in our legislature. SB 253 is our proof! For anyone looking to make a direct impact, the voter guide and the Elect Climate Champions Fund are great resources. Let’s make sure we’re investing strategically, both in our state and for the broader fight for climate justice. The next two weeks are critical—let’s finish strong!
