Festivities got underway across our sites in India last week to celebrate Diwali. In Faridabad and Dharuhera, team members enjoyed a festive meal together, as gifts and dry fruits were exchanged to show appreciation for one another. At our Pune site, a series of festive games and activities brought everyone together, while in Oragadam, the team shared a traditional meal and gathered together to light lamps. We hope all who were celebrating had a joyful Diwali!

Happy Diwali to all (Diwali week)
Diwali is the festival of light. It symbolizes the triumph of knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and light over darkness. As I see my neighbors putting out many diyas (tea lights) and preparing festive goodies, some encouraging thoughts come to my mind:
1) No matter how dark our darkest day is, eventually, as we exit the tunnel of darkness, we will see the light. What is needed here is the grit and patience to survive our darkest days.
2) I am always intrigued by the beautiful and vibrant patterns of rangoli, which I associate with Diwali celebrations. Celebrate success, celebrate life in ways that we deem beautiful and full of vibrancy, as it is never easy to have the grit and patience to consistently move towards the light at the end of the tunnel.
3) Gifting traditional sweets—my ex-colleague used to treat us to traditional Diwali sweets. Later, I realized this act of gifting has a deeper significance of gifting positivity and prosperity. Goodness in life needs to be shared and spread in order for one to truly enjoy it.
May all of us work in our capacity toward our light, celebrate life and success with vibrancy, and bring the goodness of life to others.

This Diwali, let’s brighten lives beyond our own.
I was observing on streets, so many families leave their homes and live on street-side during this festive week to earn their living for next few months.
As we prepare to celebrate the festival of lights, let’s take a moment to reflect on the lives of street vendors and artisans who play a crucial role in adding color to our festivities. They aren’t just selling products—they are weaving stories of hard work, resilience, and tradition into each item.
Instead of passing by or bargaining unfairly, let’s choose to respect and support these individuals. Every purchase we make from them is not just a transaction; it’s a small act of kindness, an opportunity to uplift their spirits and their families.
Here’s something simple, yet profound: if you can spare just 2 minutes for each purchase, ask them their name, how they are feeling, or whether they have had a meal. Offer them a bottle of water if you can. Trust me, this will have a significant ripple effect. It’s these small acts of empathy that can create a world of difference.
I urge you to spread this thought across and let’s make our community the kindest it can be. You’ll be amazed by how beautiful our world becomes when we tap into our true power as humans—the power to delight others.
Let’s light up their Diwali by being compassionate in our words and actions.

Why Do We Really Celebrate Diwali?
Beyond the lights and sweets, Diwali holds deep-rooted meaning in our culture.
This festival marks the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
But Diwali is more than tradition—it’s a celebration of resilience, gratitude, and renewal.
Here’s why Diwali matters:
- Strengthening bonds: Bringing families and friends together in celebration and reflection.
- Starting fresh: From cleaning our homes to lighting diyas, it’s about letting go of the old to make space for the new.
- Financial prosperity: Many believe it’s the ideal time to invest and set new goals for wealth and success.
This Diwali, let’s celebrate with a purpose—embracing gratitude, spreading joy, and stepping into new beginnings with full hearts.
Shubh Deepawali!

This week, many families are preparing to celebrate Diwali (di-vah-li), a festival of lights observed mainly by people in the Hindu faith tradition. The holiday symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. The video below explains its significance.
Interesting fact: Earlier this month, Pennsylvania passed a law with bipartisan support recognizing Diwali as a public holiday - the first state to do so.
With North Carolina having more than 440,000 Asian American residents, and Indian Americans making up the largest ethnic group, will it be the next state to make Diwali a public holiday?

The Festival of Lights: Happy Diwali 🪔
Diwali is the celebration of the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. It symbolizes the victory of Lord Rama after a 14-year exile when he returned to Ayodhya.
Lessons from Diwali:
> Perseverance: Challenges can be won over and we can become stronger as Rama.
> Courage: What is right should be asserted even when things are very tough, as taught during Diwali.
> Self-reflection: Let us take up Diwali as a time to introspect ourselves, get rid of any negativity, and renew.
> Gratitude: Be thankful for light in your life. Maybe it is family, friends, or personal achievements.
> Teamwork: Rama's victory was possible only with the help of his loved ones and allies, thus the need for teamwork.
> How can we apply these lessons in our professional lives?
1. Be resilient and determined to face challenges.
2. Stand up for your ideas and values.
3. Reflect on your strengths and weaknesses.
4. Thank your colleagues and mentors.
5. Cultivate collaborative relationships.

Diwali is a time of joy, but it can also be a time of impact.
What if every diya we light could also brighten someone else's life?
This festival supports the livelihoods of countless families, from artisans making earthen lamps to farmers growing marigold flowers. Buying local is about making conscious choices, and it is not that difficult.
For instance, many houses around us are covered with plastic marigold flowers that look real. If only those were real marigold flowers, it could change the lives of millions of people whose livelihoods depend on such festivals. These small decisions create a positive ripple effect that strengthens our entire economy.
Let’s make this Diwali about real impact. By choosing local, we light up lives and create prosperity that shines far beyond our homes. That’s the true spirit of celebration- uplifting our community while we celebrate with our loved ones. Happy Diwali 🪔
