Life Interrupted: Navigating the Myth of Work-Life Balance Lessons from Family Life Part 4 In our home, we don’t go to bed mad. Apologizing and forgiving bring healing and prevent grudges from building. 💬❤️ When I invite my kids over, it’s just that—an invitation, not an expectation. Giving them space to live their own lives has brought us closer. 🤝🏡 One thing I’ve learned: the internet is not a substitute for doctors. Use it wisely, but always trust the experts when it comes to your health. 💻➡️👩⚕️ And when times are tough, remember to ask yourself, “What advice would I give a friend?” Be kind to yourself. 🌱💬 #FamilyFirst #Forgiveness #SelfCare #LifeLessons #HealthyBoundaries

Have you ever felt guilty for taking annual leave? Perhaps your peers never take theirs and you worry they won’t think you’re dedicated enough? Maybe you worry about the extra load it will put on your team mates? Or maybe you don’t like to take it because you can never truly switch off from work and feel like you’re always checking your emails anyway? Now read that back but with the view of taking a few days annual leave from your children. Which one resonates the most? Even though you know a few days away would be brilliant for your mental health AND your performance as a parent (hello newfound enthusiasm) most of us still find it incredibly difficult to do. I know I did! But once we master doing it successfully (and by that I mean actually enjoying ourselves and not worrying the whole time) a whole world opens up to us. Of course it’s not as easy as just booking your ticket, it takes A LOT of planning but with the right plan in place it really does allow you to switch off and enjoy a much needed break! We cover all the mindset and practical challenges of booking a trip away within the ReKindle Your Relationships membership and of course, how to master them. So if you’re longing for a few days away child-free drop me a line and let’s chat 💬

For all the days that end in “why.” This week has been a rough one. Illness in the immediate family has pulled me in multiple directions—arranging doctor’s appointments, transporting to treatment, and advocating on their behalf. Fortunately, I have flexible leave options and an employer (Regeneron) that offers arrangements to help balance the demands of work and personal life. But despite this support, I still can’t help but feel like I’m not doing enough—not enough at work, not enough for the family member who needs me right now. I recognize that this is just negative self-talk. The phrase “for all the days that end in ‘why’” can be taken as exasperation—those days when you feel overwhelmed and question everything. But it can also speak to the days driven by your “why”—the reasons you show up, what drives you, your purpose. As I reflect on all that I accomplished this week, I realize I left out moments for recharging, for resting, for making sure I’m taking care of myself so that I can take care of others. And so begins a restful weekend. I have made no commitments to anyone but myself. It has taken me decades to realize that taking time for myself is not just okay-- it's necessary. It’s how I recharge so that I can be there for my loved ones, my team, and to do the meaningful work I get up for every day. This is okay, and I am okay with it. #SelfCare #Balance #MentalHealth #WorkLifeIntegration #Reflection #LeadershipLessons #BetterWorkplace

In this panel episode, we hit a crucial number of topics that I’m frequently getting questions and feedback about. Work and home life balances and stress management are hard for average working folks.. but inject in a first-responder, police, fire, EMS, etc career? Hypervigilance, Compassion Fatigue, Cynicism.. oh my! I’m joined by experts from different angles: Deana Kahle, (new face), Dr. Medina Baumgart (returning guest) and Cpl. Mark Bouchard, RCMP (returning 4th? appearance!) With the range of perspective, we cover the multitude of challenges for off-duty life, stress reduction, efforts in work/life balance, communication, boundaries and more! This is one to share out to your team, first responders, spouses and family for sure! https://lnkd.in/gt6KgmmE #firstresponderfamily #offduty #worklifebalance #lawenforcement #hypervigilance #burnout

Taking holiday isn't important. It's essential. I'm really bad at taking time off to properly switch off simply because of the anxiety of no income for a week, but the results of taking time off are always rewarded with a clearer, more creative and less frazzled brain. So here's a reminder for anyone else who feels like they're in the same boat, and scared of booking time off (just do it). #freelance #mentalhealth #creative #burnout
