Yesterday Glenvill hosted the TEN Women Speaker Series ‘Women in Construction’ with panel speakers Teena Lynch, Lauren McCormack, Sarah Slattery, Sonya Miller and moderated by Glenvill CEO, Len Warson. We thank this expert panel for a lively discussion and their insights. As well as bringing together and celebrating women in business, the Series is raising funds for Lighthouse Foundation's vital work supporting children and young people who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success and to all those in attendance.

Power and possibility shouldn’t be limited by gender. As a volunteer with The Women’s Fund and a passionate advocate for systemic change, I am deeply aligned with its mission to create positive change for women and girls through advocacy, investment, and collective impact based on four pillars: - Raise our voices and support programs to break cycles of violence (Domestic Violence, Child Sexual Abuse, Human Trafficking, and Sexual Violence and Harassment.) - Build leadership opportunities for women and girls (Development, Flexible Work Options, Paid Parental Leave, Civic Engagement, Women In Office.) - Ensure women’s health and well-being, regardless of race, background, or economic status (Affordable Healthcare, Reproductive Healthcare, Substance Abuse, Mental Health, Suicide Prevention.) - Raise economic security for women and families by increasing economic mobility (Living Wage, Equal Pay, Accessible Childcare, Transportation, Hunger, and Homelessness.) The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade is on a mission to create a brighter, more equitable future for women and girls, driving meaningful change where it matters most. This mission is deeply personal to me as a woman, a mother of a girl, and a daughter of a woman. I understand the importance of this cause, and that’s why I’m reaching out to you. I believe in the power of one as an agent of change. Together, we can create a lasting impact and be the reflection of what we want humankind to be. We can transform lives together. The point is to do something. If this resonates with you (and it should), will you join me in supporting this crucial mission? The Give Miami Day initiative is in full swing, with the early giving period from 11/17 to 11/20 and the main event on Thursday, November 20th. Now is the time to make a difference. You can now donate to The Women’s Fund using the following link: https://lnkd.in/eWCcKrvF. We have a unique opportunity to double our impact through a $50,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor. Your contribution, no matter how small, will go twice as far in transforming lives. Every dollar adds up. Please donate and share this link with your network to amplify and multiply the impact. I encourage you to sign up for The Women’s Fund e-blast on their website: https://lnkd.in/ewXY-Rk6. They are active all year round and offer the information you need to know and what you can do about it. Check out the Data and Research section at https://lnkd.in/dTcjRRCx This is the data, and it is true. It is not dead statistics. It is a living, breathing data source of the reality of inequity towards women that I am doing something about. And you can do something about it by fueling this mission because these people are on it.

As we approach the end of the first quarter of 2024 and the long Easter weekend, we've been reflecting on the amazing work done by and for women and girls across the UK. So much of it is invisible, undervalued, and underfunded and yet its impact is huge: life-changing and life-saving. Rosa exists to strengthen our sector and lift the voices of women's and girl's organisations across the UK to make sure they are heard, recognised, and supported. Just 1.8% of charitable funding goes to our sector - a sector that stands up for and represents 51% of our population. This must change. We see an increase in funding when women are killed or brutalised, but this is not a sustainable model. Women's and girl's organisations touch all our lives - even if we never have a reason to call upon them directly. Every bit of progress in culture, law, policy and practice in women’s and girls’ lives over the last 200 years has been pioneered by women and girls organising and mobilising. So much of what we take for granted has been fought for and sustained by the collective effort of women: equal pay legislation, support for women prisoners, domestic violence refuges, rape crisis helplines, reproductive support, childcare, maternity rights, pensions for part-time workers, or the simple right for women to have access to their own bank accounts. Take a guess: How many bed nights did Toora Women inc. provide to women and children in crisis last year? That's one of the many measures Toora uses when monitoring its services for women in crisis. Supporting Toora Women is a key pillar in Artemis' Social Impact strategy, and we thank our strategy gun Kamini Davenport for working with Toora's Board, Executive, stakeholders and wider team to help Toora progress its critical work. Did you guess? Was it close to 57,561 bed nights? Those were nights when women and children in crisis could feel safe and supported. Please keep Toora Women in mind for your fundraising and donations - they are just one click away. #toorawomen #artemispartners #socialimpact #consulting

As we wrap up the week, let’s highlight an important shift in the world of giving. Women are increasingly at the forefront of philanthropy, driving impactful change and redefining how we approach fundraising. From influential figures like MacKenzie Scott and Melinda French Gates to the growing number of women-led funding collectives, it’s clear that women are making significant contributions and leading the way in philanthropy. For nonprofits, this means it’s time to rethink traditional fundraising strategies and engage more meaningfully with women donors. Recognizing the evolving landscape and adapting your approach can open doors to new support and opportunities. Let’s make sure we’re inclusive and responsive to the changing dynamics of giving. #WomenInPhilanthropy #DonorEngagement #NonprofitGrowth #Philanthropy #FridayFocus

Couldn’t say it better than Karen Hollywood already has. Talking about women and philanthropy with this group was such a thoughtful, collaborative exercise. They wondered whether women were more inclined to give unrestricted support (anecdotally, yes); whether women tend to give through trust-based or data-driven lenses (the data says both), which superpowers women of different generations bring to the table (loads; too many to go into here); how to engage women to give more (start with your existing female volunteers); and so many other interesting directions. Let’s keep having this conversation about the (super)power(s) of women as donors.
The Princeton Area Community Foundation Fund For Women and Girls (FWG) held our annual event to celebrate this year's grantees and congratulate them on their success. A lovely evening of mingling and catching up for members of the Fund, non profits and community members including some Women In Development - New Jersey former and current board members in the room - Denise Kawailani Barricklow and Susan O'Connor. As part of the program, Elizabeth B. Wagner from Bryn Mawr Trust joined FWG President Carolyn Sanderson to discuss women in philanthropy and current trends. Thanks to the generosity of our members, the Fund awarded more than $200,000 in grants to local nonprofits dedicated to serving women and children. The 2024 grant recipients are Dress for Success Central New Jersey - 7 Counties NJ HomeWorks Trenton Millhill Child & Family Development PEI Kids Center at 353 and Arm In Arm. Less than 2% of charitable giving in the United States goes to women and girls—and only a fraction of that goes to supporting girls and young women of color. This #InternationalWomensDay, we're calling on philanthropy to #InvestInWomen by creating spaces where adolescent girls and young women of color can learn, play, dream, and become powerful movement leaders. Tides Foundation's Advancing Girls Fund powers grantmaking for girls and young women of color and their allies. Since 2021, we’ve granted more than $61.9M to 150+ girl-centered organizations in 20 countries, 90% of which are BIPOC-led. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ercMjJxw
