We enjoyed this important conversation on decolonising feminist perspectives in research with USAID Agency for All Project West Africa Learning Collaborative partners. ICRW Africa 's Maureen Kangere co-facilitated the webinar that called for a deep reflection on how self and your organisation are involved in the research process. Here are key takeaways you should consider elevating in your research processes: 1. Power - Critically examine power dynamics in your research processes. This looks like including more local leaders/experts and fairness in knowledge production - recognise all contributors. Encourage collaborative, reciprocal relationships that focus on - co-designing and co-developing work. 2. Representation - Center community narratives, voices and experiences. Be intentional in including diverse voices and prioritise other forms of knowledge and sources e.g. oral histories. Center community voices as local experts in academic and policy discourse. 3. Positionality - examine your social position and bias. Know that backgrounds and identities influence research. What will you do differently in your research processes and practices? #feminism #research

I am exited to share that I will be among the key speakers in a Youth Empowerment event happening this Saturday in Bomet County. The main goal for this initiative is to empower the next generation of African leaders with skills in financial and political accountability, democratic leadership and project management, to jointly push for better governance and more peaceful, inclusive and stable societies. In collaboration with the Kofi Annan Foundation, Bomet Youth Economic Forum, and other partners, this initiative aims to educate and empower young people on the significance of ethical and value-based leadership. The goal is to promote accountability and transparency in the use of public resources. Youth face distinct challenges, including poverty, climate change, unemployment, and corruption, which require tailored solutions. It is essential to provide them with effective training, capacity building, and empowerment to demand accountability and drive positive change.
