All parties to the Paris Agreement are expected to submit their improved and more ambitious nationally determined contributions to the Paris Agreement requirements (2035-NDC) in 2025, ideally nine to 12 months ahead of COP30 in Brazil (10 to 21 November 2025). To address these challenges, they can access various sources of funding. International climate funds like the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) provide essential support for climate mitigation and adaptation projects. Bilateral and multilateral aid from developed countries and international organizations, such as the World Bank’s Climate Investment Funds (CIFs), also play a crucial role. Innovative financial mechanisms, including green bonds and results-based financing, offer additional funding avenues. Furthermore, capacity-building programs help developing countries manage and implement projects effectively. By leveraging these financial resources and support systems, developing countries can enhance their climate resilience and work towards sustainable development.
