A big thank you to our great speakers and participants for a wonderful session filled with stimulating and insightful discussions on Creative Innovative Cities & Energy and Water Transition. Ruth Prelicz opened the discussions with an introduction in energy transition and a specific focus on the role of hydrogen, illustrated by examples from Oman and Germany. International collaboration and partnerships are essential in addressing global energy and climate challenges, which is even more true for an emerging sector like hydrogen. Laurent Fauroux gave an insight in the role of water in energy transition. Energy production is a thirsty business and an integrated approach to energy and water management can help reduce risks on both fronts. Energy and water stewardship should go hand in hand and AI can be a powerful tool on that journey. In her presentation, Dr. Sylvie Albert adeptly linked the topics of energy and creative innovative cities. She provided a number of impressive examples of innovative and creative developments by cities and their stakeholders. Cities recognize the importance of innovation and creativity and innovation is increasingly linked to sustainability. Gonçalo Canto Moniz, addressed the challenges and (nature-based!) solutions for the co-creation of healthy corridors for creative and inclusive cities by sharing the experience made within the URBiNAT H2020 Project. We learned that co-creation and co-governance are key for success. Last but not least, Eric Legale, presented the pilots realized by the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux as part of the H2020 project Artcast4D. The pilots aim to bring together citizens and local artists to create collective interactive works in the new city centre and provide a new experience with engaging and meaningful immersive artworks. Great panelists and an exceptional audience! Thanks again for being with us and we look forward to seeing you at our next event! Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Design Commit 1st International Conference on Design and Industry at Altice Forum Braga and present an article introducing my PhD research investigating how design strategies can support the stakeholders of the waterborne passenger mobility service in the transition towards a smart and circular ecosystem. Waterborne mobility can promote more sustainable cities reducing traffic congestion, energy consumption, noise, and pollution emissions, however the sector has still some challenges to overcome to fully realize its sustainable potential. Digitalization can play a critical role in enabling circular strategies and fostering an ecosystemic approach, encouraging long-term and comprehensive solutions. The conference was a great experience to reflect on innovation through Design and Industry aiming for better futures through strategic vision and interdisciplinarity approach. #sustainability #circulareconomy #future #innovation #digitalization #urbanmobility #waterbornetransport

I've had a week off and am ready for one of the best weeks of the year. Why is it the best, you ask? Because of @CenexExpo, of course! This year it is shaping up to be quite eventful. I'm starting by meeting with a South African contingent alongside Nicholas Brooks and Hiten Parmar. Then, I have time to prepare for my session in the innovation zone on Empowering Urban Mobility with Rishabh Ghotge, Pablo Decelis, George Beard, Mark Urbanowski and Katie Miller-White. We will discuss how the evolution of micromobility in cities can help on the journey to net zero. We will hold conversations at the Cenex Networking Zone for people who want to ask more questions of the panel, or follow up on the topic. On Wednesday afternoon, I will be with IUK Project SLICED, a joint project with South Korea that examines how data and smart city systems can be integrated with fleet management to result in safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly operations. The team from Cenex (Steve Carroll and Tom Allerton) will be with other partners, Flexible Power Systems, at the Cenex Networking Zone. Anyone is welcome to come and ask us more about the project. THAT'S JUST DAY ONE! On day two, I will talk to people about depot chargepoint sharing with the IUK Paua Pins Project. Creating opportunities for fleets to share depot chargepoints will be a vital piece of the jigsaw for many to transition to electric. This project examines which depot makes a good match and how to simplify the process. Finally, I have set aside some time at 11 am in the Cenex Networking Zone to speak to people about the challenge of addressing hearts and minds in the journey to Net-Zero. If this subject interests you, please come and say hello and learn more about the Human Insights Team at Cenex. In the gaps, I plan to attend some great seminar sessions, learn about amazing new technology, and meet up with old and new friends (and maybe have lunch!). I'm sure you have already registered - but in case, here is the link

Showcasing Andrew Karim at South Summit Bilbao: A Truly Inspiring Experience During my time at the South Summit Bilbao - Industry & Energy event, one of the most rewarding moments was witnessing the reactions to our technology demonstration of the Active Magnetic Cradle. As seen in the accompanying video, attendees were not only impressed by the cradle's innovation but also genuinely excited to interact with it. Watching people test out the device, explore its mesmerising motion, and learn about its connection to clean energy was a proud moment for me. This was more than just a demonstration of technology—it was an opportunity to showcase how innovative thinking can captivate and inspire. The cradles were hosted in the main meeting area where attendees from diverse industries were networking, including Andrea Ugalde Anzola, Lucia Hlavatá, Matias Dib, Pablo Gil Goti, Xabier Bernarte Repáraz, Alvaro Hernandez-Maureta, Igone Ruiz de Azúa, Modesto Ricardo Contreras González, Gabriela Angelina Bernal Ibáñez, Mario Velasco, Christophe Williams, Dmitrii Zheltov, Justina VAITKUTE, Ava Parsa, Francisco Cuellar. Lots of people engaged with the cradle and were eager to understand how it represents a step forward in sustainability and wanted to gain energy awareness. I am incredibly grateful to the South Summit team for providing this platform to share our work and connect with others who are just as passionate about driving change and evolution. It’s through these moments of interaction and curiosity that we can spark new ideas, collaborations, and a shared commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future. Witnessing the enthusiasm for the Active Magnetic Cradle was a reminder of why we do what we do at Andrew Karim. It’s not just about creating products—it’s about inspiring progress and showing what’s possible when innovation meets purpose. I encourage any curious minds to contact me asap, if they would like to understand more about the science, or find out more about our products. Here’s to building on this momentum, sharing the vision for Active Kinetic 1, and continuing the journey toward a sustainable future together! #SouthSummit #ActiveKinetic1 #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #Innovation #EnergyTransition #Networking #ActiveMagneticCradle #Magnetism #EnergyConservation
