GMV participated in the 1st General Assembly of #NewSpacePortugal. The event focused on developing the Portuguese space sector and establishing its presence in national, European, and global contexts. The consortium of 39 entities aims to change the face of the space industry in Portugal by launching several Portuguese satellite constellations into space for monitoring the Atlantic territory by 2028. GMV is working on the scope of the "Very High Resolution" and "Digital Planet" work packages, where it will develop systems for processing data generated by very high-resolution cameras and sensors and other elements of the ground segment of satellite systems, as well as a framework for territorial management services and emergencies and climate resilience. Undoubtedly, an essential contribution from the Atlantic Constellation. #Space #NewSpace #EO

💡 Technical #Breakthrough! Aerospacelab successfully closed the link between its VSP-150 #satellite, Gregoire, and its optical ground-station (OGS) in Louvain-la-Neuve. 📡 Receiving optical signals from our satellites is key for demonstrating Aerospacelab’s free optical #space communication (FSOC) capabilities. This opens the door to high-speed and secure data transfers from space to ground but also in-orbit. 🛰 ✔ The team can now prove similar links with its other satellites. ✔ Aerospacelab is one of the few companies in the world to demonstrate this capability with both fully in-house designed optical space and ground segments. ✔ This milestone also showcases the agility and performance of the VSP-150 satellite platform. ✔ This link closure is the first step in the development of our FSOC technologies, enabling more features to be tested soon, both in orbit and on ground. Check out this video from our sky-wide camera picking up the satellite signal. 📽

🌌 In the galaxy of projects covered by #HorizonEurope, EROSS IOD shines bright! EROSS IOD is implemented with the funding from the European’s Union Horizon Europe programme to promote European competitiveness, under the Digital, Industry and Space cluster. ☑ This programme aims to promote scientific excellence and generate new knowledge and technologies. At the core of EROSS IOD lies a commitment to sustainability. We aim to create space vehicles that extend the lifespan of satellites and reduce space debris. By doing so, EROSS IOD contributes to a more environmentally responsible and safer orbital environment, minimising the need for frequent satellite replacements and mitigating the risks associated with space debris. Thanks to the EU, we’re on a mission to make space sustainable! 🛰 #EROSSIOD #SpaceIndustry #SpaceExploration #EUFunded #Satellites

The newest episode of #ConstellationsPodcast, featuring Ron Faith of RBC Signals, is up now! Tune in for all things GSaaS and smallsats. Want to stay up to date on the trends and technologies in space and satellite? Make sure to follow the new Constellations page 🚀
Ground station as a service, or GSaaS, is changing the relationship between satellites and the ground. And with the number of satellites in LEO increasing exponentially, reliable ground service is more important than ever. In the most recent episode of #ConstellationsPodcast, we spoke with Ron Faith, CEO and President of RBC Signals, about all things GSaaS and smallsats. Have you ever wondered when a new satellite startup should begin working with a ground service company? Or how ground stations can improve space domain awareness? Or what makes good ground service for objects flying into cislunar space? Tune in now: https://lnkd.in/efzmd9PR #GSaaS #LEO #satellite #space #smallsat

It was my pleasure today to watch SpaceX 's live launch with clear view conditions of the new WorldView Legion 1 & 2 Satellites, built by Maxar Technologies Don't be surprised by the 25-second delay in launch sounds due to the speed of light surpassing that of sound. Hit up the volume to feel the thrust vibrations! Witnessing the return of the first stage and hearing the final boom is always inspiring Wouldview legions provides the highest resolution of satellite imagery commercially available in the world with impressive 30 cm resolution. These two satellites are part of the first block of six WorldView Legion satellites. Once the six satellites join Maxar constellation, it will be able to collect imagery of the most rapidly changing areas on Earth as frequently as every 20 to 30 minutes. Worldview satellite series that started in 2007 managed to revolutionze the earth observation sector with tons of use cases in different fields thanks to its unique data quality and resolution. it's always satisfactory looking at their imagery. . Wishing flight control team best of luck in commissioning the Misson smoothly. #spacex #launch #earthobservation #satellite #remotesensing #rocket #space #earth

I just came across this breathtaking and fascinating video—a selfie from space by Kongsberg NanoAvionics. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. As satellite engineers, we often marvel at the sheer beauty of seeing our planet in its entirety from space. Yet, ironically, we rarely get the chance to see our own creations in orbit. After all, that's not what we’re paid for—but let’s be honest, it’s moments like these that reignite the joy and pride in the work we do. This incredible video is more than just footage. It’s a celebration of the creativity, dedication, and perseverance of every satellite engineer out there. Every meticulous design, rigorous test, and successful launch is a step toward expanding humanity’s presence and capabilities in space. It’s a reminder that what we create isn’t just orbiting Earth—it’s supporting it, sustaining it, and inspiring the future. So, to all my fellow engineers: KUDOS to each one of you for pushing boundaries and proving that no challenge is out of reach. Your work is nothing short of extraordinary. Together, we’re not just building satellites; we’re shaping the future of space exploration and Earth observation. Let’s keep innovating, inspiring, and reaching for the stars! 🚀✨ #SatelliteEngineering #SpaceSelfie #Innovation #SpaceTechnology #Aerospace #EngineeringExcellence #KongsbergNanoAvionics #ProudEngineer #FutureOfSpace #TechInnovation #TeamWork #SpaceExploration https://lnkd.in/dQZVEJTz

A new satellite company called Albedo Space is getting ready to send satellites into space. These satellites can watch people from above, but the company says they can't recognize faces. Still, many people worry about privacy because the satellites could be used to spy on individuals. Even though Albedo says they care about privacy, many are worried that governments might misuse these satellites. Albedo says their satellites will be used for things like mapping disasters, but some people are skeptical because of the privacy concerns. Albedo's project, starting in 2025, makes us think about how we balance safety and privacy when there are more and more surveillance tools around us. #space #sattlite #satellites #spy

LET'S GO INTO SPACE or OPEN OUR DOORS OURSELVES (take your pick) https://lnkd.in/eb2Mwa2Y Although the space industry is still in its infancy in our country, it is taking giant steps forward. We're used to hearing about satellites in other countries, especially when it comes to obtaining a wide range of daily information, such as weather, images, connections... the list goes on. Perhaps it's time to reverse this tendency to always knock on other doors to obtain this information. Why not open those doors ourselves? Come and watch this webinar entitled: "𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒆́𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒖𝒙 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆́𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕?"
