It's time for another edition of Myth Monday: "I don't have time for a wind-down routine." Why Does Your Wind-Down Routine Matter (Especially for Autoimmune Warriors)? Your evening routine isn’t a luxury—it’s your secret weapon. It’s how you: • Calm your overactive immune system. • Reduce inflammation and stress hormones. • Prepare your body for healing while you sleep 💡 Think about how your evening can be for the easier tasks of the day so you can move into something like an intentional wind-down routine: • 5 mins: Deep breathing to calm your nervous system. • 3 mins: Sip on herbal tea (chamomile or peppermint are great options). • 4 mins: Gentle stretching to release tension in your body. • 3 mins: Journaling or meditation to quiet your mind. 🔑 The Real Investment: 15 minutes now = potentially HOURS of better sleep, reduced flare-ups, and more energy tomorrow. ✨ Remember: Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s survival. Prioritizing yourself at night helps you show up stronger for everyone who depends on you during the day. What’s one thing you’ll add to your evening routine tonight?

🌿The Impact of Thoughts on Physical Healt🌿 Did you know that our thoughts have a direct influence on our physical well-being? Science shows that optimal thinking can lead to a healthier heart, lower levels of inflammation, and a stronger immune system. Meanwhile, chronic negative thinking can contribute to stress, weakened immunity, and even increase the risk of heart disease. 💭❤️ The mind-body connection is profound—our thoughts can either uplift or deplete us. Research from the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that individuals who practiced optimal thinking had lower levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, and reported feeling more resilient to daily challenges (Davidson & McEwen, 2012). As we navigate our day, let’s reflect on this: - How often do we notice our thoughts, and how are they affecting our body? - What shifts can we make in our thinking to promote better health and well-being? - How can we support the people around us in cultivating a mindset that enhances their physical health? Let’s take a moment to reframe our thoughts. Our minds are powerful tools for healing, resilience, and growth. 🌱 #MindBodyConnection #MentalHealth #PositiveThinking #Wellness #Resilience #SWEETInstitute Source: Davidson, R. J., & McEwen, B. S. (2012). Social influences on neuroplasticity: Stress and interventions to promote well-being. Nature Neuroscience, 15(5), 689-695.

"Emotions are energy in motion" I had an amazing discussion today with Shawn Prestie ( The Millennial hypnotherapist) about how our trapped emotions, thoughts, and subconscious beliefs can hold us back and delay healing. f we don’t face and deal with these, they can ultimately manifest as physical disease and illness. As someone who works extensively supporting gut and liver health, I learned how gut issues like constipation and bloating can be related to holding on to negative emotions and struggling to let go. Similarly, liver health, which is key to the flow of energy in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), can be connected to suppressed anger or negative thoughts we hold about ourselves. It is absolutely mind blowing the effects of your thoughts on how you feel, how you react and ultimately your health. In some cases like anxiety or CVD, the link is very obvious and can no be denied, in other cases like liver disease and gut issues, maybe not so much. It's important to understand that our health and well-being are not just about our genes and the food we eat. We can no longer ignore the emotional and spiritual aspects of our well-being. #wellbeing #healthyliving #spirituality #mindbodyconnection #liverhealth #womenhealth

Did you know that your nervous system regulates your mood and your physiology, meaning what your body does and how you feel. The subtle symptoms of a body in dysregulation are important to notice before it leads to daily, chronic discomfort and deeper issues. Be aware of: 🌪️Feeling anxious, nervous 🌪️Easily triggered 🌪️Irritatability & moodiness 🌪️Racing heart 🌪️Body aches or flu-like symptoms 🌪️Fatigue or exhaustion 🌪️Lack of motivation 🌪️Get frustrated over small things 🌪️Ongoing muscle tension 🌪️Struggle to begin or start something 🌪️Difficultly focusing on simple tasks 🌪️Stomach & Bathroom issues Dysregulation is manageable and can be controlled. What triggers you and how you react to that is where to begin. With the right strategies and techniques, you can retrain your brain, and retrain your body, and get out of this fight-or-flight cycle. #nervoussystem #parenting #relationships #dysregulation #regulation

Do you ever feel like the harder you try to fix your migraine, the worse it gets? You may be right. Here’s why: 🧠Pain persists when your brain has learned to interpret the world through a lens of danger. Your brain has done its best to help you survive, but sometimes it gets a bit overprotective. Pre-occupation and worry put our brains on high-alert searching for danger… …rather than seeing the world through a lens of safety. Constant problem-solving to figure out how to get rid of migraine can paradoxically increase our hypervigilance, inadvertently reinforcing our pain. So when you make it your life’s mission to research every migraine treatment and commit to a strict migraine regimen with the high-intensity fervor of an army sergeant, you may be frightening your brain more and actually making your pain worse. 💜💜💜 My Beyond Migraine coaching program can help you feel safe and accepted just the way you are with the power of Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Yoga for Migrane and self-care. And when you feel safe, over time, your pain will be triggered less often. It sounds airy fairy, but this brain training approach to chronic pain is grounded in hard-core neuroscience with research to back it up. If you’re ready to stop trying so dang hard to get rid of migraine and start living a life with more ease and enjoyment, book a FREE Insight Call with me so I can show you the way. We are enrolling a new cohort of Beyond Migraine to start on January 20, 2025. It’s time to feel better with less effort and more support. #WhatWouldMrRogersDo #BeyondMigraine #GentleHealing #healthcaretips #healthandwellness #healthcoachforwomen #healthylifetsyle #migrainesymptoms #migrainewarrior #selfcareishealthcare #healthylifestyle #healthtips #healthiswealth #yoga #yogainspiration #yogapractice #yogamigraine #selflove #selfcompassion #migrainewarriors #yogameditation #painreprocessingtherapy #senseofsafety

Your voice is a really important part of your nervous system As we grow, the external vocal tones we have been exposed to can transform into our inner voice. This self-talk can either be a source of comfort and encouragement or a source of stress, pain and sometimes very harsh self-criticism. The nature of our inner vocal tone plays a critical role in shaping our emotional landscape and nervous system regulation. A key practice to examine is "your inner vocal tone if one's self-talk is hostile and aggressive this can impact threat-based physiology, whereas if one's inner self-talk is encouraging this has the potential to activate the affiliative/soothing emotional system" Front Public Health, 2017; 5: 40. Is Pain a Catalyst for Creativity? A comment that Elena Gabor wrote weeks ago still rings a bell in my mind. In her comment, Elena asked if pain is a catalyst for creativity. I can add some other negative feelings such as boredom and if they are catalysts for creativity. To start with there is a common understanding that relaxed minds are creative. Painful minds are not relaxed and then how would they be creative? In fact they can be. When pain becomes intense it is at this point that people in pain want to get rid of it. Creative tension becomes possible. Take the recent global pain with the spread of Covid- 19 and the pain it caused to humanity. This pain became so intensive that it led to the discovery of vaccines in record times. Creativity at its highest level assisted in the discovery of such vaccines. Take nations under occupations. When the occupier makes people’s lives unbearable people revolt and come up with creative and simple solutions to liberate their land. Pain can indeed be a catalyst for creativity and including the pain of loneliness. #pain #creativity #boredom #tensioncreativity

We all want to be tall trees but we don't have very good root systems. Did you know that when our brains perceive even a small stressor then the mitochondria in our bodies (the powerhouses of the cells) switch out of energy production mode and into Cell Danger Response? No healing or rejuvenation happens in that state. Unfortunately, many of us, unknowingly, spend most of our time in a chronically activated low-grade stress response while trying to be those really tall trees (or even just trying to keep upright while our insufficient root systems can't provide the support), Our nervous systems are not in a rested state for long enough and our cells can't provide us with the vitality and lifeforce we need Yes, supplements, gut health and detoxing can help but all of that won't last if the nervous systems is not addressed. In the Rooted Community I support women to become the exceptional trees they are called to be while having a deeply rooted, nourished and connected foundation. I created the Rooted Community– a Membership group - to provide a safe and supportive space to be able to find your own answers, connect back to your inner feminine and inner medicine and be held while you do so. Also, as the holding becomes internalised the nervous system resets and then the healing begins! These are some words shared by past members of the Rooted Community: "I came into the Rooted group so frazzled and exhausted and I now have old dreams and contact with the self I knew in my early twenties. This has been a most wonderful discovery of self compassion. I wanted to say thank you. With this new life I think there’s a possibility of bringing those old dreams to life again somehow. And also that I really appreciate the work you do." Among other things, Kerry taught me how to work with divine masculine energy to feel held and safe every day, and that’s had a profound effect on my energy levels and sense of wellbeing." If this sounds good to you learn more here. Enrolment closes at 11pm on 1st May (Please use the link in the comments to learn more and sign up) We'd love you to rise with us!

The sympathetic nervous system is designed to be engaged for relatively short periods of time to meet the demands of stressful situations, and then the parasympathetic nervous system engages to bring us back down into rest and repair. Modern work, school, and family demands do not honor the way our physiology is designed, leaving us accessible and open to more demands at any time. To engage the parasympathetic nervous system in modern culture requires a conscious intentional effort to block off times to breathe and have a sense of sanctuary from the incessant noise and false “urgency.” We need to not be accessible. Nothing is important enough to take years off our life for. If it’s damaging our health, that is our true asset and resource in this life and if we sell it off we can’t ever get it back. #selfcaresunday
