“Food production has significant environmental impacts. How fields are managed and treated can influence carbon sequestration and nutrient loading in water bodies,” says Jenni Jääskeläinen, Project Manager in Regenerative Agriculture at Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG). That's why Gofore and BSAG have teamed up with a shared goal: to develop regenerative farming using modern data processing and user-centred design methods. Regenerative farming is a holistic approach that revitalises the entire ecosystem.🌱 Long-term collaboration culminates in application development: The developed application guides farmers in sensory assessments of soil structure and tracks how results evolve with regenerative farming practices. It motivates farmers to continue these practices and provides data to support decision-making.✨ Steps towards sustainable food production and climate change mitigation: The application is a concrete step towards systematically collected data that replaces guesswork, improves soil health, and helps mitigate climate change while securing future food production. Next, the goal is to explore how the continuously generated data within the food system can be better utilised. 💡 #DigitalSociety #Design #Sustainability

McKinsey & Company have done a nice job here explaining the opportunity to use natural climate solutions (NCS) to help achieve the 1.5 degree Paris goals.... https://lnkd.in/emaZt5da Among these solutions, regenerative agriculture can play a pivotal role. Why is this important? NCS can deliver nearly one-third of this goal, removing up to 7 gigatons of carbon annually. Regenerative agriculture, a key element, achieves this by: 🌾 Improving soil health through practices like cover cropping and no-till farming, which lock carbon into the soil. 🌱 Supporting biodiversity by integrating diverse crops and perennials. 💧 Enhancing water quality and retention, making ecosystems more resilient. Critically, regenerative agriculture can offer added benefits. It can be used in partnership with reforestation strategies to turbo charge carbon absorption, while also revitalising land, boosting agricultural productivity, and strengthening food security. #RegenerativeAgriculture #NaturalClimateSolutions #Sustainability

Staying Connected: Farmers as the Heart of Sustainable Regenerative Agriculture In agriculture, innovation doesn’t thrive in isolation. Farmers are the backbone of sustainable regenerative systems, and their success relies on more than just access to the latest technologies or research. It requires continuous collaboration, dialogue, and support. Being in constant touch with farmers is crucial to: Monitor Progress: Understand how they are implementing regenerative practices and identify challenges in real-time. Solve Doubts: Address their concerns and build trust by offering tailored solutions that fit their unique realities. Transfer Innovation: Transform research and data into actionable insights that can be directly applied to their operations. Through this close connection, we empower farmers to adopt practices that not only enhance soil health and biodiversity but also improve productivity and resilience to climate change. This relationship creates a feedback loop—farmers’ practical insights can refine innovations and inform policies, making sustainability a shared journey. #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #Innovation #Farmers

I'm always on the lookout for inspiration and ways to understand what defines "best in class" in my new role. This year, I’ve had the chance to visit several incredible places, but one that truly blew my mind was Hectar a French innovation hub dedicated to driving the much-needed agricultural transition toward a sustainable future. One simple yet powerful demonstration fundamentally shifted my perspective on sustainability. They showed the stark difference between traditional industrial farming and regenerative (organic) farming practices, particularly when it comes to soil health. Depleted, compacted soil fails to absorb water and nutrients effectively, prevents rainwater from replenishing groundwater, and lacks the natural filtration that healthier soils provide. Take a look at the picture below and guess which soil sample is the healthiest. For me, the answer is crystal clear. 🌍🌱 #Sustainability #RegenerativeFarming #AgricultureTransformation

🌱 How do we reimagine agriculture to work with nature, not against it?🌱 Regenerative agriculture offers us a blueprint for a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable future. Here's how: 🌾Restoring Soil Health: Practices like no-till farming, crop rotation, and agroforestry can rejuvenate degraded land, sequester carbon and enhance biodiversity. 🔄Collaborating Across Sectors: Farmers, governments, businesses, and financial institutions are coming together to make change happen. 💡Innovative Financing: By aligning financial returns with sustainability outcomes, farmers can receive the support they need to thrive. 🚀Empowering Farmers: Growers can get access to tools in order to reduce dependency on expensive inputs while protecting their livelihoods from extreme weather. As we look ahead towards global climate discussions, one thing is clear: regenerative agriculture is more than a solution - it's a necessity! #RegenerativeAgriculture #ClimateResilience #Sustainability #Innovation
