The power of designing with love 👉 https://bit.ly/49z93z5
On this Valentine's Day, Tom Carey, senior creative director at Wolff Olins, explains why it is vital to design with love and leave yourself open to heartbreak ❤️
🗣 "Designing with love isn’t naive or fluffy. Designing with love is powerful and effective. It’s difficult and fraught with danger. This is an industry where it’s easier to say you hate something, rather than say you love it. But it’s worth the risk."

Sometimes, creativity hits closer to home than you’d expect.
The East End team recently stumbled across an old photoshoot of me and decided it was meme-worthy. The subject? A long-forgotten zucchini soup in our office fridge that’s now become legendary. 🥒🍲
Not only did I have a good laugh, but it reminded me of an essential principle in the creative process: no idea is a bad idea. Whether it’s an outside the box concept, something that doesn’t quite make sense, or even a meme, every thought has the potential to spark something bigger.
Now that doesn’t mean every idea makes it to print or gets posted. But every idea is part of the journey, shaping the best end result. This zucchini soup moment became a hilarious and humbling reminder of the power of embracing all ideas.
Let’s keep the ideas… good, bad, and absurd coming!

This is what my creative process always looks like. It's what I would describe as an organized mess.
I remember when I was a teen creating meals in my Mother's kitchen. She would complain every single time that I was a messy cook as she followed behind me with a soapy sponge and dish towel.
It's been decades later and no matter what it is that I'm creating, I make a mess...even when I'm creating my leather art. I've evolved but how I create has not.

Embrace Art, Empower Artists: A Call to Action
In a world saturated with disposable goods and fleeting trends, it's vital to support professions that inspire and uplift. Unlike industries that prioritize quick sales of fast food, aerated drinks, or single-use products detrimental to both people and the environment, the art world offers something profoundly different—a chance to enrich lives and foster a sustainable future.
At Mission Art, we are driven by a passion for celebrating and supporting the visual arts. Our mission is to transform empty walls into vibrant canvases of expression through sustainable wood prints and framed photographs that span genres from Abstract to Graffiti. But our vision goes beyond mere decoration. We're dedicated to creating a space where art thrives and artists flourish.
Why Support Art and Artists?

Aesthetics matter.
A few tips to help you define your brand’s aesthetic.
1. Your aesthetic should be a visual representation of your brand’s core identity.
Before you can do anything lasting, you need to know why you’re doing what you’re doing and who you’re doing it for.
That’s gonna help inform decisions like what colors to use, what typeface to choose, etc.
2. Look for inspiration across your industry.
Analyzing the look and feel of other brands will help you identify gaps and opportunities to jump into.
You want your brand to be recognizable but distinct.
Bonus tip: the only way any of the above will have an impact for your business is to be consistent across all platforms and touchpoints.
Your website.
Your social feeds.
Your print materials.
Your packaging.
Everything falls apart without consistency.
A cohesive look and execution will elevate your brand and build trust.
So no more crappy design, y’all. Let’s all do our part.

What’s your brand’s aesthetic?
In this week's #officehours, Senior Art Director Jason Muir shares advice on defining and honing your brand’s aesthetic. It’s not just about logos and colors — it’s about emotion, connection, and ensuring your audience feels your brand every time they engage. ✨
The most common mistake I'm seeing new brands make is vastly underestimating just how consistent you have to be to break through the noise.
I don't care what kind of budget you have to work with.
Customers have 200 other chirping sirens battling for their attention every day.
Drop the 90 options.
Drop the 20 color varieties.
Drop the 17 service packages.
Consistent. Visual. And. Emotional. Impact.
What do you do better than everyone else in the world?
What story do you tell better than anyone else in the world?
What big idea gets you out of bed with more fire than anyone else in the world?
What's the emotional impact you want to leave on the world?
Build the brand and your business on that...
... and show up each and every day to tell the story.
