The #PalestinianMuseumDigitalArchive was launched to collect and #digitise items – official records, letters, photographs, audio recordings – under threat of loss, damage, or confiscation. These items have been made widely available through this process, in both Arabic and English, in order to shed light on different aspects of #Palestinian life, #history, and #legacy – taking a #HistoryFromBelow perspective to tell stories of average people. It’s an invaluable resource full of #hope, #culture, and #resistance.

Nikol Pashinyan today ranted about having too many cross-stones. Cross-stones, or "khachkars," are intricately carved memorial stones that play a crucial role in Armenian culture and history. They are not just religious symbols but also represent the artistic and spiritual heritage of the Armenian people. Unfortunately, many cross-stones have already been destroyed in Nakhichevan, a region where systematic efforts have erased Armenian cultural traces. Now, this cultural erasure is threatening Artsakh, where cross-stones are at risk of being lost forever. The preservation of these historical artifacts is essential to maintaining the Armenian identity and heritage for future generations.

Across the globe, museums house countless artifacts that were taken from their places of origin during times of colonization and conflict. As awareness grows, so does the call for the return of these invaluable pieces to their rightful homes. Since the 1950s, international agreements have been established to safeguard cultural heritage and tackle illicit trade, leading to an ongoing dialogue about justice and the ethical responsibilities of museums. The process of acquiring artworks from dubious or illegal sources raises complex questions about the ownership and commercialization of cultural treasures. While museums strive to adhere to rigorous standards and international regulations, ensuring transparency and respect for provenance remains a significant challenge. These discussions highlight the need for continued vigilance and reform in how cultural artifacts are handled and repatriated. 🌃When the Night Changes🏙️ explores worldbuilding through a co-imaginative, transdisciplinary approach. The exhibition features sketches, 3-dimensional reliefpaintings and augmented reality art for an alternative virtual experience. Themes of identity, community, and cosmic origins are explored for a deeper understanding of cultural heritage and innovation. Co-imagining a Caribbean story of creation using African, Indian, and Indigenous cosmology, 5 Jumbies of Jouvay are set within the night festivals of Jouvay and Shivratri. Each character is adapted to overcome the Kübler-Ross 5 stages of Grief in a quest to reclaim cultural heritage. It recreates self and identity through traditional Mas characters and deities from Orisha and Hindu spirituality, referencing historical migration within the Caribbean and the cultural innovation arising from these movements.
