What I learned from Leon Panetta during my week at the Panetta Institute in 2011. Integrity is showing respect toward your opponent no matter what. Integrity is having character so that your words mirror your actions. Integrity is bringing value to the table even if you are not wanted there by all, you know your role there. Integrity is acknowledging mistakes and being open to being wrong — with no fear to change a past position. Integrity builds up the leader who can stand strong winning OR losing. Integrity makes the leader who can instill resilience in times of war AND peace.

"The key to a successful leader is to earn respect—not because of rank or position, but because you are a leader of character" - Major Richard "Dick" Winters. Major Richard “Dick” Winters was Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment’s company commander in World War 2. He was played by Damien Lewis in the HBO mini-series ‘Band of Brothers.’ Here are his ten principles for leadership: 1. Strive to be a leader of character, competence, and courage. 2. Lead from the front. Say “Follow me!” and then lead the way. 3. Stay in top physical shape – physical stamina is the root of mental toughness. 4. Develop your team. If you know your people, are fair in setting realistic goals and expectations, and lead by example, you will develop teamwork. 5. Delegate responsibility to your subordinates and let them do their jobs. You can’t do a good job if you don’t have a chance to use your imagination or your creativity. 6. Anticipate problems and prepare to overcome obstacles. Don’t wait until you get to the top of the ridge and then make up your mind. 7. Remain humble. Don’t worry about who receives the credit. Never let power or authority go to your head. 8. Take a moment of self-reflection. Look at yourself in the mirror every night and ask yourself if you did your best. 9. True satisfaction comes from getting the job done. The key to a successful leader is to earn respect – not because of rank or position, but because you are a leader of character. 10. Hang Tough! Never, ever, give up. These are quoted from Dick Winters autobiography ‘Beyond Band of Brothers: The War Memoirs of Dick Winters.’ I highly recommend the book as a great read.

21 YEARS LEADERSHIP MEMORY IN FOCUS. ( THE YEAR 2003) As a Strategic Thinker and a Seasoned Technocrat, I have since discovered that having a great Vision and a worthy cause is not enough reason why people will follow you. Consequently, to get people to buy into your vision and follow you, you must be Intentional about becoming a better leader. Honesty speaking, in the past 29 years (1995- till date), I have been working hard to build my leadership credibility with a lot of people. It is on record that I forged a great relationship with great people by constantly sharing my ideas, hopes, aspirations and dreams with them. This singular action of mine, is making a lot of people to have great confidence in my Leadership ability. That is why, I totally agree with John C. Maxwell who posited that as a leader, your success is measured by your ability to actually take the people where they need to go. But you can do that only if the people first buy into you as a leader. That's the reality of the Law of Buy-In.

A person of integrity lives bound by sound principles and is motivated through ethical behavior. Integrity is the most important trait of leadership in our society because regardless of what other beneficial characteristics exist, people will not follow someone unless they have established trust with them. 👍👍👍 #integritymatters #leadershiptips #mondayquote
