Harvard Professor Arthur Brooks has spent years researching our seemingly inescapable but foolish association between achievement, wealth, notoriety, and a lasting sense of satisfaction. He writes: “The insatiable goals to acquire more, succeed conspicuously, and be as attractive as possible lead us to objectify one another, and even ourselves. When people see themselves as little more than their attractive bodies, jobs, or bank accounts, it brings great suffering…You become a heartless taskmaster to yourself, seeing yourself as nothing more than Homo economicus. Love and fun are sacrificed for another day of work, in search of a positive internal answer to the question Am I successful yet? We become cardboard cutouts of real people.” At the Flow Inside Out Program, we push the limits of your own comfort zone to challenge you to see yourself beyond the events that mark your history. Through team exercises, you will be inspired by how others share their stories and provide you with feedback. All these dynamics will trigger a desire in you to connect with your essence, purpose, and identity, allowing you to start leading your life from who you truly are. Join other leaders in this quest to live a life with a meaningful purpose. #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipquotes #flowinsideout #growthmindset #transformation #

In Kelly Wendorf's latest essay she shares profound reflections on a transformative journey to the Grand Canyon – an exploration symbolic of a larger journey to uncover the authentic core of leadership and personal growth. This essay illuminates the tension between short-term technological gains and human connection's timeless, organic wisdom. As new viewpoints on coaching and wellness emerge, enticed by the lure of artificial intelligence and top-line efficiency, she urges us to remember the irreplaceable value of human empathy, intuition, and authenticity. Kelly prompts us to ask ourselves: in our race for advancement, are we losing touch with the genuine human heart of leadership development? This philosophical meditation on the nature of life, business, and inner growth is a must-read for anyone reflecting on their leadership or personal development path. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱—𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀? If it’s been a while, you’re probably stuck in your comfort zone. John Maxwell talks about the 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱: “Growth stops when you lose the tension between where you are and where you could be.” Just like a rubber band, we are meant to stretch. If you’re not feeling a little uncomfortable, you're not growing. It’s easy to get comfortable with routines that feel safe, but true growth—whether in leadership, personal development, or any other area—happens when you challenge yourself. It’s in those moments of tension that you discover new strengths, break through barriers, and achieve things you didn’t think were possible. So, here’s a challenge: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻? Don’t shy away from the discomfort; lean into it. That’s where the real growth begins. #Leadership #GrowthMindset #PersonalDevelopment #ChallengeYourself #JohnMaxwell

Your job as a leader isn’t just to support the next generation, it’s to inspire them to take action 🌱📈 Incredibly proud to see our leaders constantly living our values to be: Brave Inspiring Empowering Nurturing Giving The difference between humans doing and humanbeings… Congrats on a wonderful speech Olly Reid 👏 #leadership #business #inspiration #businessowner #businessgrowth #motivationalspeaker #inspirationalspeaker
Multi-award-winning business coach, adviser and mentor - Co-Founder at HUM4NS - Trustee at The Marmalade Trust
Awesome to see the city buzz with the next wave of talent starting at Universities these past couple of weeks. When I gave my first presentation at University back in 2008, I was so nervous that my hands shook, and I couldn't even read the words on the page. Fast forward to 2024, and I had the honor of being invited as an inspirational speaker at the UWE Business graduation ceremonies. The theme of my speech? Dream big. Work hard. Make mistakes. Be kind. Principles that I have lived by for well over two decades now, and I hope they resonate with you wherever you are in your adventure through life. The journey from fear to empowerment is possible for all of us, as is the ability to become happier, healthier, smarter and kinder! As Nelson Mandela said, "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." If you'd like to see me making plenty of mistakes, being human, being courageous, but also being incredibly proud to share my story with the next generation of dreamers and doers, check out the video below. And if you're ready to dream big, work hard, make mistakes and be kind, I'd love to talk to you! What were about to do in the next phase of HUM4NS is likely to tick all these boxes and Darrell Irwin and I will be looking for some courageous leaders to come with us... When have you felt the fear and done it anyway? What's your proudest moment in life or business? What's the last thing you did that really scared you or got you out of your comfort zone? #leaders #businessowners #mindset #dreambig #inspirationalspeaker #businesscoach #leadership #talent #behum4nkind

Wisdom is a cornerstone of human excellence. It transcends the mere accumulation of facts or experiences. It is the refined alchemy of knowledge and lived experiences, harmonized through the lens of judicious application. A wise leader navigates complexities with a blend of sound judgment and prudence. Wisdom is not static but a dynamic interplay of learning and discernment, where each decision reflects a deep-rooted comprehension of cause and effect, of means and ends. It requires the ability to foresee potential outcomes and to weigh options not just on immediate gains, but on long-term impacts. To act with both foresight and hindsight. #Wisdom #Leadership

Here’s a radical thought: Making sure you have the right professional development and growth opportunities identified is a form of selfcare too. I know, that may take a moment to digest. But stick with me on this. When you are unsure about your skill levels, your confidence may be shaky on some leadership issues, or you do not have the “speak up for yourself “ muscle properly developed, it can put a lot of unnecessary stress on yourself. And where there is stress (most of the time), there is a breakdown in you addressing your core needs. It affects your personal and professional relationships. It allows self-doubt to creep in and mess with your head. And honestly, don’t we have enough of that already? Just like failing to eat well or take care of our physical body, there can be a price to pay for not taking care of our professional growth needs. It doesn’t have to be this way. You can get help to guide you to the best path forward for you based on your goals, needs and dreams. Strengthening yourself professionally is a thing. Let me show you how. Comment “STRONG” in the comments or DMs if you could use some support in this area. #professionalgrowth #personaldevelopment #betteryourself #beempowered #executivecoach #leadership #authenticnetworkingstrategist

I encourage my clients to ‘visit the future’. Find examples of people or organisations who’ve accomplished versions of what you want to achieve and learn from them. Luli Callinicos’s Beyond the Engeli Mountains and Benjamin Pogrund’s How Can Man Die Better tell the stories of OR Tambo and Robert Sobukwe, leaders of great patience, integrity and humility. Tambo’s example inspires us to keep going when we feel we may not prevail. He did, for nearly thirty years. When our courage falters, we remember Sobukwe and know we can. He did. They remind us South Africa’s freedom, is a consequence of a Pan-African struggle, we are because others cared. If Tambo and Sobukwe, provide the ‘who we should be’ then Stanford professor Carol Dweck’s Mindset and Jerry Colonna’s Reboot provide the ‘how’. Dweck rejects the fixed mindsight of right or wrong, showing that excellence results from a growth mindset, of consistently working to improve. She reminds us, “In one world, effort is a bad thing. It, like failure, means you’re not smart or talented. If you were, you wouldn’t need effort. In the other world, effort is what makes you smart or talented.” The commitment to consistent improvement yields radical results. Jerry Colonna’s Reboot says ‘better humans make better leaders’, which says it all. #strategy #coaching #personalmastery #bookstoread #leadership #proudlysouthafrican #history

Make yourself your own science experiment. This is the key to personal leadership. Self-awareness alone isn't enough. Self-examination and objective understanding are critical. Developing these skills can be tricky, but I can assure you, this kind of intentional effort can be wildly transformative. The new element I am learning is that engaging in this work with open-mindedness, whimsy, play, and wonder is a total game-changer. We don't have to be so serious all the time. It's probably better if we aren't. I hope everyone is safe this Friday. My weekend wish for you is to allow yourself to be present for even a moment, to allow the weight lift for a just a second so you can get some clarity and perspective. There is so much stuff in our way. Give yourself permission to take a break and put it down. Pause is powerful - rest is a need, not a reward. #personalleadership #weekendwishes #rest #pauseispowerful #personaldevelopment

Resilience is the cornerstone of professional excellence. In our careers, we will undoubtedly face setbacks and failures, but the hallmark of a true leader is the ability to recover and advance with renewed purpose. This capacity to rise after every fall not only defines our professional identity but also propels our growth trajectory. Embracing failure as an essential component of learning transforms our setbacks into crucial growth opportunities. Rather than signaling defeat, each failure teaches valuable lessons that refine our strategies and enhance our resilience. This shift in perspective is vital, for it empowers us to navigate challenges with confidence and turn potential obstacles into stepping stones toward success. The courage to persist, the strength to persevere, and the vision to see beyond temporary setbacks are what distinguish transformative leaders. Let's remember: we are not measured by how often we are knocked down, but by how often we rise—stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever. Let us approach each challenge not with fear of failure, but with the anticipation of the growth it will bring. Every stumble is a clear call to action—a chance to demonstrate that giving up has no place in our journey. We invite our professional community to embrace this mindset: View each setback as a setup for a remarkable comeback, and never underestimate the power of resilience. 🌟 #Resilience #Leadership #ProfessionalExcellence #NeverGiveUp #CourageToContinue #FailForward #GrowthMindset #SuccessThroughStruggle #ProfessionalDevelopment #TransformativeLeadership
