I LOVE how luminary Cheryl A. Foy (LLB) is helping universities and colleges across the PSE sector centre flourishing through governance. It is nothing short of heroic (not to mention unsung work) to surface the systems and structures to ask: do these still serve us? Did they ever serve many? And then commit to the difficult work of rewiring. This is an example of hope circuits in action: go to the local, proximate spaces, invite rather than indict, and sit with grace and empathy within unique ecosystems. It is the only way to bolster and honour shared governance that makes higher education so special (and so needed in a civil and just society). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our most recent edition of the Weekly Connect is live. One of the stories we featured this week comes from EdWeek and is titled, "When Interventions Aim at Relationships, Academics and Attendance Improve." The article discusses a study that highlights the effectiveness of relationship-centered approaches in schools for supporting at-risk students. Forty-nine middle and high schools piloted these methods, which resulted in reduced rates of course failure and of chronic absenteeism. The new approach, termed “student success systems,” integrates data on academics, attendance, school climate, and social-emotional learning, focusing on students’ sense of connectedness.
