Friday Reflections: 🌟 The Power of Values in Team Performance and Belonging 🌟 Trying something new as I document my journey to find deeper reflection and connection in the complicated world of Advanced clinical practice This week, I had the pleasure of engaging with the new starters in our Neurosciences unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust We delved deep into the importance of values and their impact on team performance and our sense of belonging. Our conversation was rich with insights on how values such as growth, initiative, caring, equality, honesty, understanding, compassion, teamwork, and kindness shape not just our professional environment, but also our personal connections. We reflected on how embracing these values creates a compassionate and inclusive culture that fosters trust and collaboration. By prioritising these principles, we create a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued — a true sense of belonging that fuels both individual and collective success. I challenged the group to define a set of core values for this new generation of Neurosciences Nurses, and I was inspired by their reflections. The list they created embodies a commitment to growth, taking initiative, and leading with compassion and kindness. It was a powerful reminder that values are not just words on a wall; they are the foundation of our actions, decisions, and the relationships we build. I am excited to see how these values will shape the future of our unit and contribute to a thriving, supportive, and innovative environment. 💡✨ Together, let’s continue to nurture a culture that champions these values and drives us to achieve our best, both as individuals and as a team. #Leadership #TeamPerformance #Values #Compassion #NeuroscienceNursing #GrowthMindset #Teamwork #Inclusion #Belonging #HealthcareExcellence

What an absolutely amazing day we had for team building with the Family Clinic of Oak Ridge and Methodist Family Medicine Clinic! One of the things I love most about these games is how they change our perception of one another. When everyone is busy at the clinic and juggling other commitments after hours, it can be challenging to truly get to know our teammates and see their true selves as people. So, how do we break down those walls of hesitation? That’s where these games come in! When we laugh together, support each other towards our goals, and communicate openly, something truly magical happens. The crisp fall air added an extra spark of energy and joy to our activities, creating unforgettable moments. It was such a thrill to see everyone come together, laughing, cheering, and lifting each other up—it shows teamwork's incredible power. Here’s to building even stronger connections and creating a workplace where we can all thrive together! #CovenantMedicalGroup #TeamBuilding #HealthcareHeroes #StrongerTogether #WorkplaceCulture #HealthcareCommunity #SupportAndGrowth

Feeling reflective and motivated. I’ve been at the City of Milwaukee Health Department for coming on 12 years. I have been lucky to work with SO MANY strong, smart, kind and overall good hearted people both at the department and City as a whole. I say it all the time, teamwork makes the dream work-cheesy I know-but it’s true! Apparently that stuck somewhere. Last week, during National Public Health Week, I was awarded via peer nominations with the Collaboration Catalyst Award. (My Leslie Knope dreams are actualizing). The award celebrates someone who excels in fostering cross-departmental or cross-functional collaboration, driving teamwork, knowledge sharing, and achieving common goals. I am not someone to toot my own horn-honestly it makes me feel uncomfortable. I feel ok sharing this because I feel by being the recipient I share it with all those who nominated me as they too felt included, collaborative and aligned in the work we do and that this type of approach is worthwhile. Public Health needs to be collaborative-we are in EVERYTHING (insert a plug to thank anyone you know who works in Public Health). One thing I have learned is that you don’t have to be the expert in everything - nor should you be - as you’ll burn yourself out trying (recovering perfectionist over here). Bringing the right people together can make all our work easier and honestly the end product, more meaningful and mutually beneficial. Cheers to future connections and yup-collaboration!

I almost never interrupt my clients during coaching sessions. But I have (PROUDLY!) interrupted two clients in the past week – both times, to create a pause so that we could recognize and celebrate. My first client casually mentioned that she’d seen 45 patients in the previous 3 days and had all of her encounters closed already. This is huge. And it deserves to be celebrated. The second client was telling me about the current mix of responsibilities in her academic job and described it as “lucky” that she had protected time to work on projects that she is passionate about. Before she could continue, I interrupted to point out a well-deserved celebration – luck didn’t create her current job – SHE created it! So often, as we move quickly from one goal to the next, we forget to pause and celebrate. But celebration is key – it builds a sense of accomplishment and a positive mindset, and allows us space to rest and reflect. Take time today to celebrate. ________________ I help overwhelmed physicians focus on what matters most and stop bringing work home so they can feel better. Message me to a consult today; I’d love to help you. #physiciancoach #physiciancoaching #womeninmedicine #womenphysicians #physicianburnout #physicianwellbeing #physicianwellness #thrivinginmedicine #goalsetting

Happy National Caregivers Day! I am part of the leadership team of our Kohler BRG called PACK- Parents and Caregivers of Kohler. Today is "our" day because it is a day to recognize those who spend countless hours, days, years in service to others around them. We've been spending time talking about resources that Kohler Co. offers to support caregivers and how we as leaders and peers can better support each other. This past week, we got to hear from a fantastic speaker, Jennifer (Crivello) Ott who reminded us that there is so much value in having a caregiver in your organization. Some things that I, as a caregiver, have learned through my experiences as a mom, wife and daughter that translate into my success in the workplace: - Time management- if you've managed the schedules of school-aged kids, you get this. - Ability to step outside of defined roles and rise to any challenge - Conflict resolution- mama bear will do anything for her kiddos. - Managing stressful situations What other skills have you learned as a caregiver? Next time you're working with someone, be sure to consider how their caregiving duties make them a valuable asset and let them know you see them and support them.

🌟 Reflecting on the Highlights of My Week 🌟 This week has been filled with moments of growth, reflection, and connection. One encounter that particularly stood out was a conversation with a student from the preclinical class. Her simple question about my experience as President during my final year reminded me of the profound responsibility that comes with leadership. Attending the Majestic Manifesto Conference earlier this month IMMERSE Coaching Company further reinforced the importance of maintaining balance, especially as a leader facing high demands. 📌Lessons: As a leader, there are seasons that lay high demands on you. It's crucial to have a strong source of support and to focus on the essentials, building on your strengths rather than trying to do everything yourself. For your high demand life, you need a high supply. Last quarter, I observed the enthusiasm of my executives dwindled, records of less productivity and we had to engage in introspective interrogations fortnightly. A pivotal moment for my executive team came during our round table discussion on Sunday, where we resolved to focus on collaborative solutions and reorganize our support system. 📌Lessons: Empowering team members to take ownership and contribute their strengths led to remarkable results, proving the power of effective teamwork. If you happen to be a committee member, be an active contributor and not a bystander. One unexpected highlight was connecting with a new family through a friend. Taking the opportunity to offer value by sharing my expertise in dental care not only helped someone but also led to a new connection and reminder of the importance of intentionality in all we do. 📌And off my bucket list is showing up here. This forward is blowing my mind! As the weekend approaches, I'm excited for our academic webinar series, Aerobics 4.0, and a friendly football match between the pre-clinical and clinical students at University of Lagos Association of Dental Students (ULADS) How do you plan to make the most of your weekend? Share your highlights and plans in the comments below! Wishing everyone a fulfilling and enjoyable weekend experience! 🌟 --- #tgif #highlight #schoollife #balance #studentleader #lessons #week #retrospect #seasons #teambuilding #dentalcare #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma

13,592 people. That’s how many folks I’ve presented to over the past 5+ years at… Panels. Retreats. Seminars. Universities. Associations. Conferences. Symposiums. High Schools. Teen Centers. Focus groups. Men’s Groups. Medical Colleges. Boys and Girls Club. Leadership Institutes. Veteran community events. Virtual webinars and workshops. Here are the common patterns I’ve spotted: 🪟 Lack of Clarity: Unclear goals can make it difficult for folks to take actionable steps. 🫠 Overwhelm: People often feel overwhelmed by the steps needed to achieve their goals. 🎮 Procrastination: Delaying health and wellness goals often results in missed opportunities for improvement and growth. This can lead to stagnation and a lack of progress in achieving desired outcomes. ✅ Perfectionism: Waiting for the perfect time or circumstances can prevent starting altogether. I specialize in helping people in groups and organizations just like yours work through these challenges and start making progress by helping them learn new ways of approaching self-care. If any of this resonates with you or your organization, and you're looking for someone to speak at an upcoming event, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to explore how we can work together to help your group overcome these common challenges and start moving forward. https://lnkd.in/gZU_34GZ

Five years ago, I took a leap of faith and opened the doors to the Mental Game Clinic. At the time, I had a vision to create a space where people could grow, overcome their challenges, and thrive in both their personal and professional lives. What I didn’t anticipate was how much we would grow alongside this journey. These five years have been a mix of highs, lows, challenges, and incredible successes. We’ve had the privilege of working with athletes, business professionals, and individuals and watching them achieve their goals, transform their mindsets, and embrace their strengths. We’ve celebrated their wins, big and small, and been there to support them through the setbacks. Here are a few things I’ve learned in the past five years: 1. Growth Happens in the Uncomfortable Moments The moments where we’re stretched, challenged, and unsure are often the times we grow the most. I’ve seen this in my clients, my team, and myself. True growth isn’t about having everything figured out; it’s about showing up and doing the work, even when it’s hard. 2. The Power of a Strong Team I couldn’t have done this alone. I’m so grateful to my team for their dedication, expertise, and passion for the work we do. Together, we’ve created a community of trust and collaboration that I’m so proud of. 3. Consistency Over Perfection If there’s one lesson that stands out, it’s this: you don’t have to be perfect to make an impact. We’ve had our share of trial and error, made adjustments along the way, and kept moving forward. What matters is consistency, the willingness to show up, adapt, and keep moving, no matter what. As we look to the future, we aim to continue empowering our clients to build resilience, achieve their goals, and to maintain our integrated approach. #5YearAnniversary #GrowthMindset #ConsistencyOverPerfection #Gratitude #TheMentalGameClinic
