HVAC systems are expected to have some condensate, but too much fluid is a sign of an issue. The condensate line (the white pipe on the bottom right corner of the photo) leads fluid outside of the home and can become clogged with debris or mold and cause a backup. When excess water is present in the drip pan – or if the drip pan itself is cracked – it could lead to a flood in the area, and we all know wood and water don't get along. Need an HVAC tech? Ductless mini-split systems are a popular choice for efficient heating and cooling, but like any HVAC system, they can encounter problems. Here are five common issues: Refrigerant Leaks: If your mini-split is not cooling or heating properly, a refrigerant leak could be the culprit. Low refrigerant levels can impact the system’s efficiency and cooling capacity, and they should be addressed promptly by a professional. Clogged Filters: Dust and debris can build up in the air filters, reducing airflow and making the system work harder to maintain the desired temperature. Regular filter cleaning or replacement helps maintain optimal performance and prevents strain on the system. Electrical Issues: Faulty wiring, blown fuses, or tripped breakers can prevent the mini-split system from operating. Electrical problems may cause the system to shut down unexpectedly, and professional troubleshooting is often needed to identify the issue. Drainage Problems: If the condensate drain becomes clogged, the unit may leak or shut down. This can also lead to mold growth if not resolved quickly. Regular maintenance of the drain line is essential. Sensor Malfunction: The thermostat sensor monitors the temperature and helps the unit maintain a comfortable environment. If the sensor is damaged or out of position, the system may not cycle properly, leading to inconsistent temperatures. 6047817272 bcrc.p.h@gmail.com #vancouver #burnaby #richmond #mapleridge #abbotsford #coquitlam #langley #surrey #heatpump #HeatPumpRebate #heatpumservice #HeatPumpInstallation #heatpumpmaintenance #HCAV #hvacservice #boilerrepair #furnacerepair #boilerinstallation #furnaceinstallation #hvacrepair #furnacemaintenance #boilermaintenance #boilerservice #furnaceservice #airconditioning #acinstallation #ACRepair

Loving our all electric systems! I think we have our new mechanical space dialed in. The void in the middle is for the softener system. That’s why we mounted the manifold so high. Plumbers thought we were crazy at first. Now they love it! We will be testing the potential of the ASHP water heater for cooling in the summer. We will be monitoring this system through peak loads. The peak hourly load of this house will be about 2500 btu of sensible cooling. We estimate the ASHP water heater will put out about 25,000 BTU of cooling per day. The mass of the slab will carry through several days before any cooling is required to kick in. It’s certainly borderline, but I am optimistic. If it works we’ll save about $12k on an AC system. That will put our high performance assembly about $7k less than minimum code. Who says high performance costs more? Please weigh in HVAC professionals… #electrifyeverything⚡️ #decarbonization #sustainablebuilding #highperformancebuilding #buildingscience

Winter can make your HVAC system less efficient by blocking airflow with snow and ice. This extra resistance means your system has to work harder, wasting energy and leading to higher bills. Make sure to clear space around your HVAC system and furnace exhaust to ensure proper functioning and safety. ❄️ Did You Know? Keeping your heating system well-maintained is essential for commercial buildings like schools, hospitals, and conference centers! 🏢 Proper maintenance not only enhances performance but also ensures a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. Here are some key checks you might not be aware of: • Examine heat exchangers and heating elements for efficiency to prevent heating issues. • Inspect heat pumps to guarantee they operate optimally, ensuring consistent warmth. • Check pulleys and belts for wear and tear to avoid unexpected breakdowns. • Clear drain lines to prevent blockages and ensure proper function. • Assess ductwork and vents to improve airflow and heating distribution. Investing in regular maintenance can save you from costly repairs and keep your facilities warm and inviting throughout the winter! 🙌🏻 #BakerMechanical #CommercialHVAC #FallInspection #WinterPrep

Let’s know more about #36: Duct Work Most air conditioning and heating systems require some form of ductwork to channel or direct the air to places where the conditioned air is needed. There are many types of ductwork available and often the ductwork can make a big the difference in your utility bills. For that reason, the ductwork must be designed and installed correctly. A poor installation job will result in poor performance, bad airflow, leaky duct systems, and higher-than-usual utility bills. Another important factor in the installation process is to make sure the ductwork is sized properly. Over-sizing systems cost more and do not maintain the desired air flow and undersized ductwork causes the system to strain mechanically and can be noisy.

How do I know if an outdoor condenser unit is faulty? You may experience some of the following if this is the case: 1. Excessive levels of noise from the unit 2. On top of condensation, excessive levels of leaking fluids - (refrigerant or water) 3. Higher pressures even though the correct amount of refrigerant is in the system, indicating a clogged condenser. 4. Ineffective & insufficient cooling, simply if your workspace isn't as cool as it used to be. Good news! Salix Mechanical is on hand for your HVAC related obligations and requirements, so be sure to get in touch for a FREE survey of your commercial premises! Ensure that you maximise your cooling before the worst of the warmer weather. #airconditioning #hvac #condenser #cooling #premises

One of the most important determinants of what size HVAC equipment a home needs is how leaky the home is. However, most HVAC contractors today don’t do blower door tests to measure the home’s infiltration level. This needs to change. It’s not that hard, and it will be increasingly important to do as heat pump installs continue to rise.
