Google hinted we should expect core updates more frequently going forward, so buckle up for what might be a wild 2025! So, what are we seeing so far? This December update already feels bigger than November’s, based on the tools and industry chatter. While it’s still early days, my gut says this one is impacting even more sites, and for anyone hit by the November update, this could feel like a double blow. It’s a nightmare for eCommerce sites right at their peak and for SEOs hoping for a #Christmas break. How’s the update affecting you? Need a hand? We’re here to steady the ship if you need us! 🚨

Google Urges Patience As The March 2024 Core Update Continues To Rollout: In light of Google's ongoing core update for March 2024, it's important for site owners and SEOs to exercise patience. Google's Danny Sullivan advises against making hasty decisions before the update completes its rollout, which could take several weeks extending into April. Even if there are ranking shifts currently, they may not persist once the update concludes. Sullivan highlights the significance of understanding other factors beyond rankings, such as seasonal changes and fluctuations in traffic. For instance, if your site's traffic has dipped, it might be due to shifts in user interests or search behavior rather than inherent issues with your content. Ultimately, the key takeaway is to remain vigilant and observant during this period of flux. Rather than rushing into drastic changes, it's wise to assess the situation holistically and make informed decisions based on comprehensive insights.

Google hit with outage plaguing some users Google is experiencing an outage that has taken out its search engine, YouTube and other popular services. DownDetector shows issues began around 9am ET and are plaguing users in the US, the UK and parts of Europe, Asia and South America. The site, which monitors online issues, also reported disruptions with the website, search and Google Drive. DownDetector's issue map shows a big spike in reports of issues in Los Angeles and New York City, along with Boston and Chicago. However, users in the UK are experiencing the brunt of the outage with more than 11,000 reports issued to Down Detector. In the US, 57 percent of the problem stems from search, 32 percent with the website and 11 percent cited Google Drive. Users have flocked to X to share their frustrations about Google experiencing problems and to see if others are experiencing the same glitches. X user Barry Bureau posted: 'The terrifying thing about Google going down for 20 minutes, is that for those 20 minutes the entirety of humanity had to rely on their own knowledge. It's incredible that we survived.' Google Meets is also experiencing issues, showing users a blank screen that reads: 'You are offline. Go back online to use Google Meet.' Another Google user posted on Down Detector that the Chrome PC app was not working properly.
