Indeed, travel and tourism broadens perspective while providing a fertile ground for understanding and tolerance, key tenets of peace, to flourish. While, tourism and peace intersect in meaningful ways as tourism can be both a tool for fostering peace and a sector highly dependent on peaceful conditions. You see, peace is essential for tourism to flourish, while tourism can be a powerful tool in promoting peace through economic growth, cultural exchange, and global diplomacy. However, critical to the practice of tourism and ensuring that it contributes to peace is thoughtful, responsible and sustainable management to avoid inequalities, tensions, marginalisation and the destruction of environment and culture.
