🌐 #UN2.0 Week #Recap: Reimagining #Education: Connectivity, Digital, and Foresight for Inclusivity 📚🚀 One of the main sessions, "Reimagining Education: Connectivity, Digital, and Foresight for Inclusivity," was facilitated by Oliver Liang (ILO). He led a panel into how foresight, technology, and innovative strategies could radically enhance educational inclusivity. Key Takeaways: 1. Mariagrazia Squicciarini (UNESCO) highlighted the critical role of foresight and future literacy in addressing global challenges like education inequality and climate change. UNESCO’s collaboration with the Philippines Department of Education in implementing futures labs and masterclasses is a pioneering step towards integrating future thinking into K-12 curricula, aiming to foster more inclusive, resilient societies. 2. Leotes Lugo Helin (UNICEF) shared insights from UNICEF's Learning Innovation Hub, particularly an AI-powered gamified learning platform tested in Bhutan, Uzbekistan, and Laos. This platform has remarkably improved math skills by 40% within just 12 weeks, showcasing the power of personalized learning. 3. Alex Wong (ITU) discussed the Giga initiative’s approach to map every school's connectivity and create the conditions for enhanced digital access. The focus isn't just on connectivity but also on ensuring that the necessary content and capacity building follow, as demonstrated in Sierra Leone. 🔍 Challenges & Future Directions: - Integrating foresight and future literacy needs time and leadership buy-in across sectors. - Scaling educational technology requires careful consideration of evidence, partner engagement, and sustainable business models. - Building capacity for digital inclusivity is crucial for sustainable impact, requiring comprehensive strategies for connectivity, content, and usage. The session was a reminder of the importance of strategic foresight and innovative technologies in crafting educational systems that are not only adaptive but also forward-thinking, ensuring that no child is left behind in our increasingly digital world. 12TH AUGUST, INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY Theme: Clicks to Progress: Youths' Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development. Today, as we celebrate International Youth Day under the theme "Clicks to Progress: Youths' Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development," we, at Bring Back Our Values Africa, reaffirm our commitment to empowering the youth across the continent. The digital era presents unparalleled opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact. However, with these opportunities comes the responsibility to use technology ethically and for the greater good. The youth are the heartbeat of our continent's future, and digital skills are the lifeblood that will drive Africa's progress in the 21st century. By harnessing the power of technology, young people can unlock new avenues for wealth creation, job opportunities, and community development. From coding to digital marketing, e-commerce to content creation, the possibilities are endless. However, we must also acknowledge the dark side of the digital revolution. Cybercrimes, online fraud, and unethical uses of technology are on the rise, threatening to undermine the potential of digital pathways. We strongly discourage any engagement in these activities. They not only harm individuals and communities but also tarnish the reputation of our youth, limiting future opportunities for everyone. At Bring Back Our Values Africa, we call on all young people to embrace digital skills as tools for positive change. Let us build a future where technology is a force for good, where the youth lead the charge towards a more sustainable, prosperous, and ethical Africa. To achieve this, we must invest in digital education, provide mentorship, and create environments that foster innovation and ethical standards. We urge governments, private sectors, and civil society organizations to support initiatives that empower the youth to use technology responsibly and creatively. Together, let us move from clicks to progress, ensuring that every digital pathway leads to sustainable development, ethical practices, and a brighter future for all. HAPPY INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY TO ALL AFRICAN YOUTHS #happyinternationalyouthday2024
