——The difference between a great client and a terrible client —— ❌Not giving out a work number to speak directly to you and only giving a landline with having to deal with a gate keeper every time ✅Hands a direct phone number to contact them directly ❌No urgency when it comes to hard to find tradesmen ✅Understands the market is very fast paced and gets the process started ASAP ❌Never returns a phone call ✅Returns calls and always open to answer any unanswered questions for receruiter to better understand ❌Being so cheap making a position impossible to fill ✅Valuing skilled labour and hard work and paying a decent rate with relavent allowances Being a great client goes a long way: ⭐️Easier for us to source Quality candidates ⭐️Positive relationship forms ⭐️Your needs are met much sooner

Has the quality of tradesman dropped over the years? I’ve been doing some decent sized work at my house over the last few months and have had to interact closer with the trades than usual. No stone throwing or shit canning anyone however I’ve noticed some things. No one keeps a clean worksite. I was always taught to tidy everything at the end of the day. A quick sweep, a neat stack of materials and put all the rubbish in the bin. I’m nowhere near perfect but most trades even left some tools out in the weather overnight at least once… Quotes are fluid. Even simple quotes of only 1/2 thousand have variables that haven’t been allowed for (supposedly)… my favourite was that the brick layer didn’t allow for the top course of bricks when quoting the wall…. It’s interesting to think of the trades shortages around the world and how that might have an effect on the quality of work. Or it might be that the industry has caused its own shortages by breaking up job roles to such minute parts that we need so many more people. A tribute to my skilled-labor friends in the various trades: CLIENT – How much will it cost to do this job? CONTRACTOR - $2,800 dollars. CLIENT – That’s too expensive for this job! CONTRACTOR – How much do you think it should cost? CLIENT – $800 max! It’s a simple job! CONTRACTOR – I can’t do the job for so little. CLIENT – People in your line of work wants to make a huge profit! CONTRACTOR – I’m sorry you feel this way. Why don’t you do the job? CLIENT – But, but, I don’t know how to do any of that. CONTRACTOR – For $900, I can teach you everything you need to know to do the job. You can then use $800 to do the job, and you’re still saving $1,100. Also, you will obtain all the knowledge and the experience for the next time you need to do this job. CLIENT – Deal! CONTRACTOR – Great! To start, you need to buy tools. You will need a nail gun, hammer and some other things just to get started. CLIENT – But, I don’t have any of those tools and I can’t buy all that for just one job! CONTRACTOR – Ok. I can rent you my tools for another $300. You’re still saving $800. CLIENT – That’s cutting my savings, but I will rent your tools. CONTRACTOR – Perfect! I’ll be back Saturday and we can start. CLIENT – Wait! I can’t Saturday. I only have time today. CONTRACTOR – I’m sorry, I only teach others on Saturdays. I have to prioritize my time and my tools needs to be on other jobs I have during the week. CLIENT – Ok then. I will sacrifice my family’s plans on Saturday. CONTRACTOR – Right, me too! Oh, I forgot. If you’re going to do the job yourself, you need to buy the materials. There’s a high demand nowadays, so your best bet is to get a truck and be at the hardware store by 6am before other contractors get there. CLIENT – AT SIX IN THE MORNING? On Saturday? That’s too early for me. I don’t even have a truck! CONTRACTOR – I guess you’ll have to rent one. By the way, do you have some helpers to help you load the truck? CLIENT – You know what? I’ve been thinking. Probably is better for you to do the job. It’s better to pay you to do the job right and not having to go through all that hassle. CONTRACTOR – Good thinking. Sign here and let me get to work. 💡💡💡 People are not just paying for a job, they are paying for knowledge, experience, tools, time, family sacrifices, and other things you bring to the table. 💡💡💡 I tip my cap to you! 🔥🔥🔥

Imagine meeting a carpenter who didn’t know how to use a hammer. The hammer is the primary tool of the carpenter. Without the hammer, there isn’t much they can do. They can put boards next to each other I suppose. They can imagine a world where the boards they have become a frame. They can dream about a day when they’ll build a house. But they can’t really do anything. Now imagine that this person did not know that the hammer was their primary tool. They thought they were just supposed to get boards stuck together any way they could. Use their shoes to strike the nails. Bang the boards against each other. Use a staple gun. And this person called themselves a carpenter. And told others they were a carpenter. And they got hired on jobs for which only carpenters should be hired. Now, replace the hammer with a question. And the replace carpentry with selling. This is the “modern” sales rep.

Finding the perfect role is like playing the lottery: Everyone's in the draw and believe they're going to win, but the probability is marginal! Now imagine someone called YOU offering the winning lotto numbers, would you listen? Or would you tell them, "Sorry but I'm not interested, I'll keep playing my own numbers." All I'm saying is how could you know if what's on offer aren't what you're looking for? Career move tip: Why you should consider starting a job transition over the holidays instead of waiting until January/February. We have clients aggressively making moves, interviewing, and hiring candidates right now even as the holidays approach. If you're waiting until after the holidays to make a move, you might be missing out on some amazing opportunities. Here are a few reasons: 1. If you start looking in January, it's likely you won't start until February/March.
