🌟 August: National Wellness Month with a Social Justice Perspective 🌟 As we dive into August, celebrating National Wellness Month, it's a perfect moment to reflect on how wellness and social justice intersect. Wellness isn’t just about personal health; it’s deeply connected to the broader social environment in which we live. 🌍💪 True wellness means ensuring that everyone has equal access to the resources they need to thrive—whether it’s mental health support, nutritious food, clean water, or safe spaces. This August, let’s broaden our understanding of wellness by recognizing how social justice plays a crucial role in achieving it. Wellness should be accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. Advocate for policies that address healthcare disparities and support community resources that make wellness programs available to underserved populations. Mental wellness is just as vital as physical health. Push for more inclusive mental health resources and services that cater to diverse communities, ensuring everyone has the support they need. Wellness flourishes in environments where everyone feels safe and valued. Support initiatives that promote inclusivity and fight discrimination, making sure all voices are heard and respected. Use this month to educate yourself and others about how systemic inequalities affect wellness. Empower marginalized communities by supporting local organizations and movements that focus on equitable health and well-being. Clean air, water, and green spaces are essential for wellness. Advocate for environmental policies that protect vulnerable communities from pollution and environmental hazards. This August, let’s celebrate National Wellness Month by not only focusing on our own well-being but also actively working to create a more just and equitable world. Wellness for all means justice for all. 💙🌱 Photo Credit: University of Illinois #NationalWellnessMonth #SocialJustice #WellnessForAll #EquityAndWellness #CommunityCare

This week (24th - 30th June) is World Wellbeing Week and, as a company dedicated to keeping people safer, it is an opportunity for us to highlight the things we do and reflect on what else we could be doing to care for the wellbeing of our team. Our mission is to be the provider of innovative solutions for a safer future, meaning we are constantly focused on safety hazards for road workers and road users so that we can develop smart ideas, creative designs and new technology to reduce risk. Our people are at the heart of our business, and we are committed to innovating in the way we care for their wellbeing too, here’s how: 👷♀️ We ensure that everyone has the correct PPE, including face-fit masks, along with comfortable accommodation and meal allowances when they need to work away from home. 🏋️ We offer benefits including discounted gym memberships and a cycle to work scheme, which are helping to keep our people fit and active. 🤝 We have an Employee Assistance Programme and four fully trained Mental Health First Aiders, so people always have someone to talk to. 🫶 We support initiatives that help people feel great inside and out, including our recent movement challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, desk yoga for Mental Health Awareness Week and our volunteering scheme. Wellbeing is not a one-off tick in a box, it's a long-term culture, and definitely one that's important to us here at Highway Care! #worldwellbeingweek #wellbeing #wellness #mentalhealth #safety #employeewellbeing #innovativesolutionsforasaferfuture #highwaycare

According to the Department of Health and Aged Care (2023), around one-third of Australian adults are not involved in any social or community groups. This lack of connection can make it harder to cope during tough times, increasing the risk of mental health challenges. But as Joel from Head to Health puts it, “I need to be around people, even though it's not easy at times. You get out of your own head that way.” The connections we build—whether through relationships, shared spaces, or community activities—create a safety net for mental and physical health. They can lower anxiety, boost self-esteem, and provide a sense of belonging. Here’s how to start building a supportive community: 1️⃣Start With One Genuine Connection You don’t need a huge circle to feel supported. Sometimes, one authentic relationship is enough to remind you that you’re not alone. Reach out to someone you trust—be it a friend, coworker, or family member—and let them in on how you’re feeling. Quality always beats quantity when it comes to relationships. 2️⃣Seek Shared Spaces That Align With Your Interests Connection often grows from common ground. Whether it’s a wellness class, a local hobby group, or a community event, shared interests create a natural foundation for relationships. Over time, consistent participation strengthens those bonds. 3️⃣Lead With Generosity Be the kind of support you hope to receive. By offering a listening ear or simply being present for someone else, you lay the groundwork for trust and reciprocity. Communities thrive on mutual care and effort. 4️⃣Embrace Imperfection No connection is flawless, and that’s okay. Focus on building relationships that feel genuine, even if they’re not perfect. Depth and trust are far more important than the size of your network. That’s why we’re hosting the New Year, Renewed You Workshop on January 25th—a transformative wellness event featuring practical tools for personal growth, vision board creation, opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals, and a wellness goodie bag to take home. 🎟️ Early bird tickets are available now, and spots are limited 👉 https://lnkd.in/gyRG-Js7 #wellness #wellnessevent #community #inclusion #healthandwellness

How have you seen benefits evolve over your time in this industry ❓ 🤔 Remember a time when benefits were a standardized package, a one-size-fits-all approach that didn’t always meet employees’ needs. 🔹We’ve come a long way from the days when wellness meant solely physical fitness. The limitations were clear: no Peloton, no holistic approach to health, and certainly no recognition of mental or financial well-being. 🔹Employee perks were equally restrictive. A rigid catalog of discounts offered little to no personalization. 🔹Family benefits were even more limited, primarily focused on childcare and lacking in support for modern family structures. ✨ Today, we’ve made significant strides. Employers now understand the importance of a holistic approach to well-being, offering programs that support physical, mental, and financial health. Gone are the days of rigid perk packages; today, employees enjoy the flexibility to choose benefits aligned with their individual needs. Furthermore, the modern workplace recognizes the diverse needs of families, providing support beyond childcare, including fertility treatments, elder care, and adoption assistance.
