Ålesund kommune, Molde kommune and Kristiansund kommune are lanching the RECLAIM project today. It's great to see our three largest cities working together to address the growing issue of marine litter. Teammember in de spotlight! 🔦 Pieter Heyns has been a part of the Plantsoon project for about three years now. He serves as the Chief Experience Officer (CXO), but is also deeply involved in the company’s operational processes and leads exciting projects like Buzzwatch. "What excites me most about working at Plantsoon is the impact we make on the world. Creating ecological intelligence is often done in isolated pockets, but Plantsoon’s inclusive approach to co-create, connecting diverse stakeholders, is what makes it so groundbreaking. This, for me, is the biggest driver: creating sustainable impact on our planet. My favorite season is the Indian Summer—not too hot, but still sunny, with a stunning array of colors and impressions. When it comes to plants, I absolutely love raspberries (Rubus idaeus), which my wife, daughters Stien and Marie, and I all enjoy. As for conifers, my favorite is Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis'—though Araucaria araucana isn’t quite my style!" In his free time, Pieter enjoys meeting up with friends and playing board games. "While I haven’t been able to make much time for sports lately, I’m planning to start yoga or something similar soon. One thing I’d like to share is a quote that keeps me going: "Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." It was an absolute privilege to work with the folks at Take 3 for the Sea recently on their social media strategy. If you're not familiar with Take 3, the premise is simple; take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway, or anywhere really. Take 3 are on a mission to tackle the plastic pollution problem through human-sized actions. At a time when big corporates and governments aren't doing enough IMO, the idea of millions of human-sized actions gives me hope and helps to sooth my climate-anxious soul. I've been 'taking 3 for the sea' for years, to the extent that my 8 year old also now picks up plastic waste unprompted when we're out, which absolutely makes my heart want to burst out of my chest each time. Next time you are at the beach, near a waterway or at the park, please take 3 pieces of rubbish away with you to help minimise the devastating impacts of plastic pollution on the environment.
