As the renewable energy sector grows more promising, making it available at scale and affordable for all is essential. One way to do this is by utilizing BESS, the battery energy storage system. In Australia, community battery installations seek to strengthen the country’s energy security and accelerate clean energy transition for all levels of society. How does this program work? Chicago is getting greener! We are proud to have taken part in reaching a milestone with the City of Chicago, Chicago Mayor's Office of Community Engagement, and the Chicago Department of Environment - Commissioner Angela Tovar and help transition City facilities to reach 100% renewable energy. This milestone will help us foster a more sustainable future and create green new jobs. We hope that this inspires more cities to prioritize making renewable energy accessible for all. #CleanEnergy #RenewalEnergy #GreenJobs

The Great British Energy (GBE) has come to life across the energy sector, and with the newly elected Labor Government there is a hopeful shift towards sustainability. As commercial real estate owners grapple with environmental imperatives, companies in the renewable space like Syzygy find themselves at a pivotal juncture. Syzygy’s Project Manager Syed Humza Farhan, delves deeper into the implications of GBE’s creation for Syzygy’s client base. Humza’s detailed analysis breaks down the benefits of this initiative, such as reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels, lowering energy costs, creating jobs, and advancing towards a 2030 green energy target. While the benefits are substantial, he also considers what challenges lie ahead and the ways Syzygy can assist in seamlessly integrating renewable solutions. To understand more about GBE and what the new government has in store have a read of our latest article below. https://lnkd.in/eAsFSKCu

Syed Humza Farhan’s articles are always well worth a read. I may be biased, but his grasp of subject matter is second to none. Here he looks at and explains the Great British Energy company being set up by the new Government. If successfully delivered, and there is no reason why that shouldn’t be the case, this will be a game changer for UK #renewables. The fact that more of our off-shore wind assets, or indeed Solar farms were not government owned has always vexed me. Preferring to these to be funded by private equity, overseas sovereign wealth funds and overseas owned utility companies - none of whom have an aligned interest with UK energy consumers. There are very sensible returns to be made by investors whilst still being able to supply genuinely low-cost power - why we didn’t launch UK Green Government bonds when interest rates were 0.1% is astonishing. #netzero #netzerocarbon #windpower #solarpv #renewableenergy #decarbonising

We’re committed to protecting our planet and the communities we call home. That’s why we’re working to decrease our dependence on non-renewable energy sources through energy conservation and renewable energy initiatives. Ciudad Obregón: Since August 2022, the Obregón Brewery has transitioned from fuel oil to natural gas to power its cauldrons, helping reduce emissions and hazardous waste. This change is estimated to save around 21,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year – equivalent to planting 895,833 trees. Nava: The Nava Brewery is taking numerous steps to reduce emissions. In 2022, it joined Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources Emissions Trading System pilot program, earning extraordinary compliance status. California: At our Woodbridge Winery, 99% of all electricity procured is from a renewable energy source. Dalhousie University was centre stage at the recent Halifax Chamber of Commerce Fall Dinner talking about their groundbreaking work to deliver clean energy locally, nationally, and globally. Matt Borys from EverWind Fuels talked about Nova Scotia’s opportunity to become a global player in green hydrogen and to supply Europe (“the spark plug of the industry”) with the clean energy it will need to achieve its emissions reduction goals and for energy security. Dalhousie has a number of connections to the emerging green hydrogen sector, from a collaboration between Dr. Michael Pegg's Hydrogen Applications Research Lab and the Eastward Energy to a two-year Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) project, co-led by Drs. Mita Dasog and Michael Freund to study affordable catalysts for green hydrogen production.
A late post, but I had a wonderful time the other week being an MC with Eniko Zsoldos at the Halifax Chamber of Commerce Dinner. I always enjoy talking about sustainable energy and what our future could look like here in Nova Scotia. Huge thanks to the organizers and Dr. Alice Aiken, jeff dahn, Chris Burns and Matt Borys for their excellent talks! Also thanks to Blaine Fiss, PhD for being my partner in clean energy for the evening!

As part of our commitment to ESG and to leaving a positive impact in the communities where we operate, we have signed an agreement with the town council of Muelas del Pan, one of the locations where we are currently developing a 100 MW solar PV project in Spain. Through this agreement, we are contributing to the restoration of the Cristo de San Esteban chapel. This landmark is of great importance to the community, and we are pleased to play a part in its preservation. At Aquila Clean Energy we have also been actively involved in various initiatives to promote social development in the region: - 📚 Training activities focused on employment for local residents. - 🌱 Environmental education workshops to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices among children. We believe in creating lasting value and positive impact for the communities we work with. Find out more about our agreement and the work we're doing in the region: https://lnkd.in/dH2YR6kj #AquilaCleanEnergy #ESG #CommunityEngagement #Sustainability #PositiveImpact #SocialDevelopment

Firman Latimer, MBA One of the many great people changing the way we not only power our world, but also how we empower people. See the article below for insight into his founding of FNpower and his work with Indigenous communities developing sustainable energy.
Recently, I spoke with Lauren T. from Ivey’s Centre for Sustainability about the importance of Indigenous participation in the evolving renewable energy industry. FNpower was started to create more equitable partnership opportunities between First Nations communities and Industry partners. We support Nations building up the capacity to take the reins on major renewable energy projects and reinvest earnings directly back into their communities, creating multi-generational economic benefits. Through this work, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with fantastic partners. I’ve learned so much and want to share this information with others. We can all benefit and we can all drive economic reconciliation. Thank you to Lauren and @ Ivey for creating a platform to share this story. https://lnkd.in/gFifn9wk
