This week, I visited the Danfoss Smart Store in Nordborg, Denmark, a pioneering project that exemplifies innovation and sustainability. This store isn't just a supermarket; it's a bold statement for a greener future, operating with energy efficiency at its core. The Smart Store is a testament to how our products can drive change. It's 50% more energy-efficient than traditional stores, thanks to cutting-edge heating and cooling technologies. The store's design ensures that 90% of its heating needs are met through heat recovery from its cooling systems, showcasing a circular approach to energy use - Every kilowatt is accounted for, and every bit of excess heat is put to good use. But what truly makes this initiative stand out is the diversity behind it. A myriad of perspectives, skills, and backgrounds have come together to create solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also socially responsible. As I walked through the aisles, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Our products are part of a larger movement towards sustainability, and the Smart Store is a living example of how diverse teams can create impactful, community-oriented solutions. It's a reminder that when we harness the power of diversity, we can make a world of difference for generations to come. Let's continue to innovate, inspire, and build a better tomorrow, together. 🌱🤝 https://lnkd.in/em9e4Q7U #DanfossSmartStore #SupermarketInnovation #EfficiencyUnleashed

What would you rather have in a retail store? LED lighting with customization and flexibility in lighting to create various ambiances or daylight harvesting for integrating natural light and saving energy? In retail environments, lighting plays a key role in shaping customer experience and influencing purchasing decisions. LED systems that offer customization and flexibility enable store owners to create various ambiances that align with brand identity and seasonal promotions, fostering a more engaging shopping atmosphere. On the other hand, LED fixtures with daylight harvesting capabilities integrate natural light, promoting energy savings and enhancing the store’s sustainability profile. By adopting these advanced lighting solutions, retail stores can elevate their environment, improve customer satisfaction, and optimize operational efficiency through smart energy management.

Let’s face it. Large #retail display programs that roll out to hundreds of locations aren’t exactly a hallmark of eco-friendly practices. Between manufacturing, delivery methods, and disposal, displays can lead to waste and pose challenges to sustainability. However, there are ways to be mindful of the environmental impact when planning for and designing a display program. Choosing the right type of display and material can support your commitment to eco-friendly practices. https://hubs.ly/Q02HX_-S0

[Čeština v komentáři: 👇] ♻️ At Cyrkl, we’re proud to be actively shaping the future of #ExtendedProducerResponsibility (EPR) systems in the #CzechRepublic. This essential principle places responsibility on producers not just for manufacturing and distribution but for the entire lifecycle of their products, including collection, #reuse, sorting, #recycling, and waste disposal. ✅ Recently, Cyrkl collaborated with Změna k lepšímu and key stakeholders in the furniture industry, Reuse federace CZ, CETA - Centrum ekonomických a tržních analýz, z. ú., and with the kind support of the Ministerstvo životního prostředí, to advance EPR in the Czech #FurnitureSector. 🛋️ With furniture accounting for 61% of bulky waste (350,000 tons annually ❗), introducing EPR has the potential to significantly reduce waste and promote #CircularEconomy practices. 💡 As part of the project, retailers united to review critical data, share best practices, and outline strategic steps for implementing EPR system. This commitment was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum by eight major signatories, representatives of furniture industry: IKEA, HORNBACH BAUMARKT CS, Möbelix CZ/SK, JYSK, Oresi s.r.o., Kinnarps Group, SIKO BATHROOMS & KITCHENS and Řešeto. The Memorandum emphasizes two key points: 1️⃣ Retailers pledge to meet strategic goals for a transparent, well-designed, and efficient EPR system. 2️⃣ They commit to funding strategic steps of their project to support the development of this system. We are dedicated to facilitating these important collaborations and bringing innovative solutions to the table. Let’s connect and explore how we can work together to create a sustainable and circular future. 📩

For once, my post does not focus on stainability or brand purpose, but looks at a really brilliant piece of innovation that seems to be very badly (and very sadly) executed! I saw what I thought was an amazingly clever vending machine in a railway station in the North of England a week ago. Maybe these vending machines are everywhere and I am the last person to have seen one, but my instant reaction was “Wow! What a neat idea.” Why such a neat idea? Because by turning the front of the vending machine into a large format video screen, it opens up tremendous marketing possibilities and, at the same time allows the complete redesign of the inside of the vending machine to increase the stock held and so increase availability as well as reduce the frequency and, therefore, cost of re-stocking. And with prices of video screens dropping dramatically, this is pure genius! But then I looked a bit closer. I looked at what was being displayed on the screens. Rather weirdly, the screens were just emulating the old glass front of a vending machine. It showed multiple images of the same product and it showed faded out pictures to represent out-of-stocks. Why advertise out-of-stocks? And, even more bizarrely, there was an out of stock image for paprika flavoured chips right next to an image for in-stock paprika flavoured chips. For me, the video screen was a brilliant opportunity to promote the products in a much more dynamic and exciting way, essentially becoming a billboard for the products available. instead it was literally reproducing what you saw through the glass with all the display restrictions that come with that old format... And it made me wonder whether inside the vending machine was also exactly the same as the old glass fronted vending machine. With the same poor use of space and antiquated mechanics that limited stock. So, a brilliant piece of innovation, but seemingly badly executed. At Berenbrug we focus on helping companies commercialise their sustainability assets. But we can also work with companies to help them optimise innovation. #vendingmachine #innovation #marketing #outofhome
