This is mind-blowing 🤯 Just came across a company called Reflect Orbital that’s working on providing “on demand sunlight”. Yes, you heard that right. Through their orbital mirrors, they plan to reflect sunlight at night, meaning if you’re running a solar farm, you could keep producing electricity even after the sun goes down. They’ve just raised $6.5 million in seed funding led by Sequoia Capital and are planning to launch their first pilots in 2025. These pilots will allow you to order about 4 minutes of sunlight that covers a 5km area. While it’s still early, this has the potential to reshape solar energy by addressing the biggest limitation of solar power – nighttime production. Also, Northern Finland appears to be perfectly positioned in their coverage map, making it an exciting prospect for regions that experience extended periods of darkness. The future of energy might be reflecting down from space 🤔

We often talk about wind and solar energy for the ecological transition. Today I want to talk about another one: Osmotic Energy In a nutshell, osmotic energy is produced by the contact of salted water with fresh water. After more than 75 years of research, the French scientist Lyderic Bocquet found a suitable way to harness the power of osmotic energy. This led to the creation of the INOD® technology. Which stands for Ionic Nano Osmotic Diffusion. This technology relies on a new generation of nano-scale membranes designed and developed by Sweetch Energy. Co-founded by Lyderic and a team of experienced entrepreneurs, Sweetch Energy is pioneer in the industrialization of osmotic power plants. With a first project currently taking place in the South of France, they expect to deliver enough energy to power cities like Amsterdam, Barcelona or Montréal ! We might have a new source of energy that can play a significant role in the energy transition.
