🌍 Transition to Electromobility: A Challenge and Opportunity for Slovakia ⚡ 🔋 On December 11, 2024, a roundtable discussion organized by SEVA – Slovak Electric Vehicle Association took place in Brussels, focusing on the future of electromobility in Slovakia. With the participation of MEPs, experts, and industry leaders, the discussion addressed the challenges of transforming the automotive industry, developing charging infrastructure, and legislative priorities. 💬 “Slovakia has a unique opportunity to be a leader in electromobility, but the key lies in clear legislation, investments, and infrastructure support,” emphasized Peter Badik from GreenWay. 📈 The transition to electromobility is not just an ecological goal but a critical point for the future of Slovakia's industry. By 2030, we expect the number of electric vehicles on our roads to grow to 200,000 🚗, with Volvo planning to produce 250,000 electric cars annually in Košice starting in 2026. For success, massive investments are needed, particularly in charging stations along highways and in urban areas. ⚡ Together, we can change the future of transportation! #emoblity #decarbonization #SEVA

Austria can become a pioneer in Europe when it comes to decarbonizing the logistics sector. An electricity mix with a large amount of renewable energy and state subsidies for electric vehicles create almost perfect conditions for the successful ramp-up of e-mobility. Against this backdrop, e-drives are already paying off compared to diesel - which is one of the reasons why many Austrian customers have already ordered e-trucks from us. I am delighted that I had the opportunity to speak at the “Wiener Elektrotage”, the largest e-mobility event in Austria, about the opportunities for MAN in Austria on the road to zero emissions. And how we - Austria and MAN - can benefit from each other in this way. We offer our customers a complete e-truck portfolio for a wide range of applications. And in all sizes - from twelve to 42 tons or in some markets even up to 50 tons. Now we need to accelerate the development of the charging infrastructure that has already begun. A start has also been made in Austria: the first public e-truck charging stations have been installed at service stations. MAN branches in various cities in Austria also offer public charging stations for trucks and buses. And the expansion continues. Thank you very much @Hans Dieter Pötsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board Porsche Holding, Luca de Meo, President European Automobile Manufacturers' Association and CEO Renault, @Gernot Döllner, chairman of the Board of Management AUDI AG, for the great and fruitful discussions. #MANTRUCKANDBUS #MANSustainability #Electrification #Zeroemission #eTruck #decarbonisation

Luca de Meo mentioned our study! https://lnkd.in/eeevqmWd 1. Why do we need a small, affordable and sustainable electric vehicle? 2. Why are there no such vehicles in Europe? 3. What can we learn from countries where such vehicles exist? 4. How can we promote the production and sale of such vehicles in Europe? 5. What impact would they have on decarbonisation, just transition and the competitiveness of European industry? 👉 https://lnkd.in/eHYSUR9J In a study published in the Gerpisa Actes, we (with Marc Alochet, Bernard Jullien, Samuel Klebaner) have tried to answer these five questions. In our view, they are crucial in the current crisis for electro-mobility in Europe. We believe that both the viability of the 100% zero-emission vehicles by 2035 and the preservation of a competitive European automotive industry depend on the democratisation of EVs. We need a small, affordable electric vehicle in Europe to : - revive the sluggish growth of the EV market, - give more consumers access to EVs, - generate the volumes needed to meet the 2025 and 2030 CO2 targets without having to sacrifice thousands of jobs, - meet the Chinese challenge in a segment where the European automotive industry has been in the past and can be today very competitive. The report explores the regulatory causes that have led to the disappearance of city cars in Europe. It looks at the cases of ‘Kei cars’ in Japan and electric mini-vehicles in China to understand how these countries have been able to preserve/develop this segment and with what effects in terms of decarbonisation of transport, access to mobility and industrial competitiveness. Based on these insights, it proposes five key measures to promote the production and sale of small electric vehicles manufactured in Europe: - the introduction of a new vehicle category based on the Kei cars model ; - modifying CO2 regulations to favour such vehicles and achieve more effective decarbonisation; - the introduction of a financial framework to support the take-off of their production; - the introduction of a European Ecoscore based on the French model to provide a flexible policy tool of financial and non-financial incentives for the spread of these vehicles; - the proposal for a European toolbox based on this new category of vehicle, setting out a series of measures that would help States, regions and cities to improve their mobility systems.

The road to zero emissions vehicles by 2035 is becoming more difficult. Europe needs smaller and more affordable electric cars to get there. But why do we not have them? Europe used to be the biggest producer of small/compact cars. Why have small/compact cars vanished from the Single Market? And what do we need to bring them back (with batteries) to European consumers? Tommaso Pardi, Marc Alochet, Bernard Jullien and Samuel Klebaner address these questions in the 43 Acte du Gerpisa and propose 5 concrete complementary measures to shift European regulations towards the goal of promoting small affordable and sustainable electric vehicles. A stable increase compared to the same period last year. The e-bus boom continues! Total bus sales across all drive types rose to 27,400 units compared to the first three quarters of 2023. The ACEA has also calculated growth for all major markets, with two countries standing out in particular: There is an increase of +21.8% for Spain, closely followed by Italy with an increase of +21%. And Germany? Here, too, there is some interesting news that does not contradict the German government's decision to end subsidies for electric buses: The ACEA has declared Germany to be the largest market in terms of volume and calculated growth of 11.4%. In figures: 578 new electric buses were put on the road in the first three quarters of 2024. These are still the promised subsidies from the German government, which will be paid out and then reflected in the vehicle statistics for new registrations. However, there will be changes in the short term, as the first transport operators have reconsidered their new orders and cancelled or reduced the number of electric buses following the end of financial support from the German government. https://lnkd.in/eSf9qmax
