Perks that are not commonly available in the private sector, but are key issues that may be on the mind of a DAV while trying to enter the work force and address those restrictions. To be honest, typically a DAV will not make these restrictions known to a potential employer leading to one of two outcomes. Either the DAV will ignore the issues potentially making it worse, or burn up sick days making the appointments and run the risk of being terminated from employment. I am no expert on this topic, but fall in this category as a DAV and can appreciate this perk.

Did you know in your first year of service in the federal government a disabled veteran with a disability rating of 30% or more receives 104 hours of disabled veteran leave? This leave can be used to: 🔸 attend medical appointments 🔸 file VA disability claims 🔸 mental health appointment 🔸 mental health days 🔸 other appointments and procedures connected to their service-connected disability care There are also special appointing authorities for disabled veterans. This is how I was able to be hired at USDA-Agricultural Marketing Service without applying through USAJobs. #BluntBartley #FederalHireFriday #FederalEmployee #FederalCareer
