It is a wrap. The Food Tech Congress in Warsaw, one of Europe’s premier events for food tech innovation & investment, brought together 1000+ impactful innovators, venture capitalists, policymakers and the most prominent entrepreneurs to collaborate, push the food industry forward and speed up the revolution.   Two amazing days filled with inspiration, innovation, bold ideas, pitches and incredible food tech insights. Curated networking, numerous discussions, unforgettable experiences and 10 inspiring new themes: food as medicine; alternative proteins; precision fermentation; levelling up safety, security & transparency,; digital from farm to fork; from linear to circular food systems; fighting the food waste battle; the tech-powered future of regenerative agriculture; the future of agritech, and smart money talks.    It was great to see so many of our ground-breaking 2024 startups and EIT Food Accelerator Network alumni attend the event, including Adamo Foods, EcoBean, Esencia Foods, EXOSOMM, GOVA, Holloid and Time-travelling Milkman. Huge congratulations to all the startups that have pitched, exhibited and that have been awarded. A big applause goes to EXOSOMM a startup from our 2024 EIT Food Accelerator Network cohort for winning this year's Food Tech Challenge in the "Enhancing well-being via nutrition" category. On May 22 and 23, we had the honor of welcoming the world’s brightest minds in agrifoodtech in person and online for the 9th F&A Next Summit.   🌍 The F&A Community connected with a total of 857 leading startups, scale-ups, investors, corporates and other agrifoodtech enthusiasts from 36 countries spread over 5 continents.   👍 Our summit has been well received and was awarded a visitors’ rating of 8.3 out of 10.   🏆 At the closing of the summit, Jord BioScience was crowned winner of the Feike Sijbesma Sustainable Innovation Award 2024, which includes a €25,000 grant prize. This prestigious award recognizes Jord BioScience’s innovative microbial technologies enhancing crop productivity. It is time to look ahead after a busy week in Rome an gear up for the grand finale of the EIT FAN Helsinki program in 2024. 🔥 The cohort this year is formed by 10 truly fascinating European startups leaving their mark on the futures of food. Each one having their moment in the spotlight at the Futures of Food side event at Slush. Below are short introductions on the first three of them. 👇 🍣 Esencia Foods uses mycelium, the root of fungi, to recreate culinary whole cuts, starting with fish and seafood aiming to advance to alt-meat products. Solid state fermentation as their approach, they are truly reshaping what we will find on our plates. Pitching on stage you will find the Co-founder, Hendrik Kaye.  🚀 Ironic Biotech develops a new generation of plant-based iron with bioavailability comparable to meat. Produced using precision fermentation, their solution aims to respond to a global problem: iron deficiency faced by close to 2 billion people.
