🌱 LuxDev and Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) strengthen their collaboration to accelerate green growth initiatives and support countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement. ✍🏽 On this 24 October 2024, LuxDev and GGGI signed a Memorandum of Understanding aiming to leverage the complementary strengths of both organisations in areas such as climate adaptation and mitigation, waste management, climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable forestry, among others. 💪🏽 Together, LuxDev and GGGI will develop initiatives that promote climate finance mobilisation, financial inclusion, and the creation of green jobs.

I'm reflecting back on an outstanding week at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP16) with fellow students and faculty from Yale School of the Environment. While there, I was delighted to support the delegation from WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development. 3️⃣ key take-aways from the negotiations and side events I attended: 🌿 Biodiversity and Climate are twin crises, and we must act on them in tandem. As we race toward 2030 targets under both the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and the Paris Agreement, implementors need to look for solutions that harness synergies between the two. I’m encouraged by the adoption of negotiated text solidifying this view as well as examples of progress from regenerative agriculture, urban forestry, and biodiversity credit markets. 💰 In order to fund the implementation of biodiversity targets, we must center equity and access for developing countries and indigenous communities, and we need an all-of-the-above approach to raising funds. We have been funding this work for decades and have seen conservation success born out of those efforts. Newer approaches, including private-sector financing mechanisms, are also needed in order to reach the $200 billion target and the scale of conservation necessary to become #NaturePositive by 2030. 📊 Companies have a role to play in each of the 23 GBF targets for 2030. Corporate sustainability teams should look beyond Target 15 (addressing disclosure) to take action and reduce their risk exposure related to each target in order to capture the largest possible competitive advantage.
