An interdisciplinary scientist, she is committed to driving conservation and restoration efforts grounded in robust science. 👉 Andreas Noe from The Trash Traveler: A true climate crusader, Andreas Noe left his biomedical career in 2019 to inspire environmental action through creativity and adventure. In 2020, he walked the entire Portuguese coastline in 58 days to raise awareness about ocean plastic pollution. The following year, he rallied his community to collect a million cigarette butts, proving that small actions can create big change. In 2022, he built a bike from old parts and rode 2,370 km around Portugal, including to the top of Serra Da Estrela – carrying "trash" to promote a circular economy. Over the years, his initiatives have united a community of over 7,000 people. 🌍 On this International Climate Day, the LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 project, aiming to generate synergies, visits the Cluster meet Regions in Milan with the Finnova Foundation, underlining its commitment to the #TwinTransition towards more sustainable practices. 🏭 Wastewater represents a significant challenge, as it contains pollutants. That is why, through projects such as LIFE ECOdigestuion 2.0, we work towards the purification process. ✨ The Finnova Foundation, in collaboration with IVACE, the Region Lombardia and Wex Global, will try to work together to transform challenges and solutions into relevant European projects. Greetings from Helsinki, Finland! 🇫🇮 As part of the MITACS Entrepreneur International program (Mitacs) we are exploring the Urban Tech Helsinki incubator to better understand the key drivers behind Finland’s thriving cleantech ecosystem. Our goal? To understand the key drivers behind this green revolution and integrate these practices and knowledge into our initiative at GRNshift. 🔑 Here’s a glimpse of our key discoveries to date: 1️⃣ Integrated Lifestyle: In Finland, sustainability is more than a mere trend, it’s deeply integrated into the fabric of everyday life. Today, in celebration of World Nature Conservation Day, we reinforce the crucial role that cork oak forests play in sustainability. The Rio Frio Estate is an example of the profound connection between cork oak forests and sustainability. It showcases the innovation and deep respect we have for these ecosystems, embodying the true spirit of this day. And that's why we created the Forest Intervention Project - a program designed with the purpose of enhancing our forests and our raw material – cork -, dedicated on deepening the knowledge about the resistance of cork oaks, promoting the sharing of technical knowledge about the activity and enabling the planting of more than one million trees on our properties. Through these initiatives, we increase carbon capture and boost the sustainability of the cork oak forest and its ecosystems. These forests not only provide the raw material for our products but also support biodiversity, combat climate change, and sustain local communities. Let’s cherish and protect these invaluable ecosystems every day.
