Monday marked the Austin Technology Council’s annual “C-Suite Summit and Industry Think Tank.” It was a heavy lift to pull it all together, but the result? A truly impactful day. Thanks to the sponsors- Pierpont Communications, MUFG, St.Edward's University, Weaver , and Precina Health . Our keynote speakers, Razat Gaurav (CEO of Planview) and John Nehme (CEO of Allies Against Slavery), set the tone with powerful insights. And our panel on funding for growth and mid-sized companies brought sharp perspectives from Andrew Cozewith (MUFG), Jenifer Smith Smith (Latham & Watkins), Linda Ginac (TalentGuard), and Andrew Vogeley (Sapphire Ventures). But the highlight for me was the “Industry Think Tank”—an hour plus of rich, table-level discussions on AI, workforce dynamics, raising capital, and more. When smart leaders gather to dig deep, good things happen. For the past few years, I’ve spent a lot of time immersed in Austin’s tech story: where we’ve been, where we are, and where we need to go. The story of Austin’s rise as a top-tier tech hub is remarkable, but what got us here won’t be what takes us forward. Our “secret sauce” has been civic-minded leaders showing up, being supportive of community efforts, and mentoring the next generation…. And that needs to continue. But we need to be having more discussions about the path ahead. This week is also “Austin Tech Week”, (big “thanks” to Jacqueline Hughes and the team at Capital Factory for all their efforts!) with countless events around town. It’s an exciting time for people across our ecosystem to connect and build relationships that will shape tomorrow. Having lived in Austin for over 33 years, I feel grateful for all this city has given me. I am actively seeking conversations with anyone who wants to discuss Austin’s future and ways to unite the community. Our best days are ahead, but success won’t happen by accident.

The next generation of Austin’s tech visionaries might not be the loudest in the room today. 🌆 But if we’re going to move forward, we need fresh voices, fresh ideas, and fresh perspectives leading the way. It’s time to create spaces that uplift all voices, especially the ones who are quietly driving innovation and redefining what’s possible. The Austin Technology Council wants to see us all unite to build a tech community that values diversity of thought and empowers tomorrow’s leaders to step forward and make an impact. If you know an up and coming civic-minded leader- they need not wait to add their voice to the conversations about the future of Central Texas. Now is the right time for them to begin to share ideas. #FutureLeaders #AustinTech #Innovation #AustinTechnologyCouncil #LeadTheWay #NewVoices

According to the State of the European Tech report, these are the biggest challenges facing the European tech ecosystem. 1️⃣ With the investment downturn since the end of 2021, it's no shocker that the top worry among respondents is access to capital. 2️⃣ The ongoing military conflicts have bumped geopolitical risk up to the second most cited challenge. 3️⃣ General concerns about the macroeconomic environment came in third. Respondents were also worried about Europe's global tech competitiveness, talent shortages, and regulation. What can you do with it? What are you doing with it already? 🅷🅾🆆 🅶🅾🅾🅳 🅼🅰🆁🅺🅴🆃🅸🅽🅶 🅲🅰🅽 🅷🅴🅻🅿 For instance, killer marketing strategies can boost a company’s appeal to investors, tackling the issue of access to capital head-on. By clearly communicating a company's unique value proposition and growth potential, marketing efforts can ease investor fears and attract funding, even when the investment scene is slow. Plus, strong marketing can up a company’s game on the global stage. By building a solid brand and using digital marketing tools, companies can reach beyond local markets and compete globally. And let's not forget, targeted marketing campaigns can help snag top talent by showcasing a company's culture, values, and growth opportunities, addressing the talent shortage issue.
