On our 10 step "Ladder of Excellence", the first step is just showing up! This seems pretty simple, but you would be amazed at how many in this world, just don't show up. This goes for leadership all the way to the front line. So, if you just consistently show up, no matter what. Then, you have not only embraced this first step to excellence, but you now embody the mindset of "one who can be counted on". I love how James Clear describes it as "an identity" below -

One year ago, July 20, 2023 ( thank you Goodreads), I finished reading Atomic Habits by James Clear. So much of the book resonated with me. I chose one habit to focus on for a year - join a gym and commit to working out 3x per week. Not only did I join a gym, I invested in myself by hiring a personal trainer, initially as an accountability partner and also as someone to help me become comfortable with strength training. The quote James Clear shared today is so point on…there are days I didn’t feel like going to the gym, and sometimes those days I walked on the treadmill for 10-15 min and was done, some days I didn’t make it to the gym, but I did a workout at home or went for a walk or for a hike at a local park. Even earlier this week I was not motivated to go to the gym, so I downloaded a yoga app and I’m on day 4 of doing daily yoga; maybe a new habit forming 🤷♀️ Now that I’ve got this workout habit down, it’s time to identify a new habit to help make me a better human. My workout habit has definitely made me a happier and healthier person. If you’re looking for strategies and ideas on how to make time for new habits, check out Atomic Habits. I’m putting it back into my book rotation, as it’s worthy of rereading. #AtomicHabits #habits #JamesClear

Whether for optimizing health or designing a life of flourishing, sticking with smart habits is essential for improving your trajectory. Chapter 2 of #AtomicHabits about identity-based habits pays dividends over and over. It’s so good, I hand it to my patients as part of their treatment plan for fatty liver (#MASLD/#MASH). #Ozempic is helpful. But upstream habits are the lynchpin to lasting improvement. Here’s James Clear’s chapter two. So many great resources on his blog. https://lnkd.in/dS9QcWgn
