Despite the festive season of Navratri and the expectation that demand might decrease due to Prasad being served at many places, today at Ghar Ghar Langar Sewa, we witnessed even more people in need of meals. As the wheat rotis ran out, we quickly adapted by serving bread with vegetables and rice to ensure no one went hungry. This reinforces our commitment to providing nutritious meals every day, regardless of circumstances. Hunger doesn’t take a break, and neither do we. Thank you to all who continue to support this initiative, allowing us to adapt and meet the needs of the community, even in unexpected situations. #HungerRelief #CSRInitiative #ZeroHunger #FoodForAll #Navratri2024 #CommunitySupport #SocialImpact #GharGharLangarSewa #FeedingTheHungry #EndHunger #SustainableDevelopmentGoals #SupportHungerOrganizations #NutritionForAll #UnitedNations #WorldFoodProgramme #ActionAgainstHunger #GlobalGoals #UNSDG2 #FightHunger #EndHungerNow #WorldHungerDay #FoodSecurity #NoHunger

495,000 people (22% of the #Gaza Strip population) face catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity - IPC Famine Review Committee The process to determine the difference between famine or catastrophic #foodinsecurity is irrelevant for people in #Gaza, too many of whom have starved or will never fully recover from the ravages of #hunger. Rather than wait for a determination of famine, we must listen to the call of humanity and act now. Full statement: https://lnkd.in/d5XyVaiu #Gaza #Famine #Hunger #Food #CeasefireNOW

EATING MANGO KERNEL IN KANDHAMAL: A TIME TO LAUNCH ACTION FOR ZERO HUNGER AND ZERO MALNUTRITION Please read my Facebook Posting on above-cited subject and the Link is: https://lnkd.in/dTb2v6zc I am very much distressed to read in the newspapers about tribals eating Mango Kernel and there has been an adverse impact with 2 deaths and 6 hospitalised. I was reminded of the deaths and diseases due to intake of Mango Kernels in Kashipur Rayagada many times - especially in 1987, 1995, 2001. The Socio-economic and Political impacts on the tribals have been far-reaching. There have been many policy changes and programmes launched. At least two Prime Ministers had taken it seriously. Late PM Mr. Rajiv Gandhi had visited Kashipur. Late PM Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee had a direct talk with the tribal women of Kashipur and took a decision to open the granary as million tons of food grains were stocked up in the FCI Godowns. The other impact has been the door delivery of rations as Odisha showed the way by using supply vans to carry PDS to remote villages. There had been launching of IFAD supported Odisha Tribal Development Project( OTDP), UNICEF Supported Household Food Security Project in vulnerable Blocks, Wold Food Programme (WFP) supported Community anti-hunger projects. Much More.............

"Let's Talk About Millets", that's what's written on my t-shirt here. I'm preparing to eat some tilapia Brad Osumo's restaurant, The Big Fish. I'm having my fish with ugali made of millet. I first roll the ugali into an "otonje", and bless it by throwing it into the air. Trust me, that small action greatly improves the taste! Those important food rituals aside, let's now talk about #Millets: There are around 20 varieties of millets grown around the world, mostly in Africa and Asia. They are famous for being drought tolerant and packed with nutrients, and in Kenya are used for among other things, weaning babies, managing blood sugar levels among diabetics. Yet, despite these nutritional benefits and their potential for use in building resilient food systems, millets are not consumed as heavily as they could be in Kenya. Whereas an average Kenyan consumes 98kg of maize annually, the equivalent for millet is less than 1kg. Why? To answer this question we are running a survey based on one originally developed by ICRISAT to evaluate consumers' awareness of and perceptions about #Millets. My team and I would like to understand why Kenyans barely consume millet. Kindly take some time to fill it here: https://lnkd.in/dsh5n_Uk

🍛 Looking delicious? Thank India for introducing the world to the Butter Chicken, also known as Murgh Makhani, served with rice as a side dish. If you've been looking for inspiration for your next lunch break, you're welcome! 😉 But let's focus on the rice: For a long time, rice cultivation has been an attractive business in West Bengal, #India. 🇮🇳 But those golden days are over, and some Indian farmers are backing away from it. Why? Boro Baski explains it in D+C 👉 https://lnkd.in/eUzfjPfn

Ruling party and its politics of food Schools in Noida ask parents not to give #nonveg food to their wards in lunch. The order issued is equal to school authorities peeking into #lunchboxes of children to inquire what they are eating which otherwise is a #fundamentalright of every citizen of the country guaranteed by the #ConstitutionofIndia to profess freely the right of individual choice of food. We abide by the constitution says BJP but comes up with one or the other thing from time to time which brings a blow to its claim. Non veg food items packed in #lunch for children can get stale by the time they have them compared to #vegetarianfood gives the reason UP BJP government in issuing this order towards #wellbeing and #health of children. There is also the aspect of #cleanliness associated with vegetarian food compared to non-veg food items, says reportedly the BJP government of UP reported by #TheTimesofIndia. https://lnkd.in/gF4xEdwb

WORD !!! Eat this #EPP European People Party (EPP) with all you current hubris cause you 'won' the EU elections and now seem to be at (culture) war with anything #F2F, #green deal or sustainable forms of producing food. if EPP gets it's way this is the not so hard and simple prediction: ever less farmers in the EU at the expense of rural areas andbbiodiversity during the coming decade, while in the benefit or large agrochemical corporations and huge industrial farms. Aka, the EU following the US dystopian model...what an eye watering christian eurovision!
Did you know? 📍🍽Local #foodsystems feed up to 70% of the world’s population while using less than one third of agricultural land and resources. In Dhaka, Bangladesh, over 400 public markets provide food for 25 million people daily. In sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, small-scale and family farmers produce 80% of the food supply. Big is not always better! We need to unlock the full potential of local food systems and territorial markets to tackle #hunger.
