We’re African. We live and work here. Africa is home. For 40 years we’ve been working with African communities to ensure that they have the resources they need to thrive. This is what we’ve seen: years of sustained and equitable engagement lead to communities gaining the power to direct their advancement beyond our presence. This is what we believe, and work for, day in and day out: if community-driven development is incubated to the point of self-propagation, 20-million Africans will progress towards self-reliance by 2032. #ForAfrika #SDGs

Post-conflict reconstruction and development must be gender-sensitive, addressing the specific needs of women and children, as emphasized in Pillar Four of the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Resolution 1325 (2000). This pillar highlights the importance of ensuring women’s participation and protection in recovery efforts, promoting their access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. By integrating gender equity into rehabilitation initiatives, we can build sustainable peace and inclusive development that leaves no one behind. #WomenPeaceAndSecurity #GenderEquity #PostConflictReconstruction

Looking forward to an impressive session with Tony Agutu A. to learn all matters #Migration #Refugees in Africa. I was recently perturbed to learn Kenya's asylum application rate had grown up to 334% between 2019 to 2024 alone! Growing from at least 48244 to 209194. I believe such a substantial increment showcases how dire refugee crisis has become and how relevant it is to have issues on migration on top of Africa's Strategic Agenda. Similarly the recent abduction and forceful repatriation of refugees from Kenya poses a threat to refugee safety and also implies just how essential African countries' capabilities to handle refugees both through institutional reforms but also others including technical reforms and investment into refugee affairs would help give asylum seekers the confidence they much need, that they will be safe in their new homes. Away from threat to their own lives or that of their families and loved ones that they in the first place ran away from. Wholesale integration is currently being tested across a number of African countries including Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. I wonder how the confluence of these emerging realities will shape our migration policies going into the future? How about migration out of Africa. Do we have something to worry about (Like acute brain drain). Is there a potential gain and how can Africans and Africa ensure that migration is safe, sustainable, benefitial and is at the very least used to serve Africa's developmental needs. Say things like technological transfer among others. I think the Chinese and Indian models of leveraging migration for development are epic and can be further investigated and contextualised. Tony Joy I am a bit sceptical The colonizing nations—such as European countries, the United States, Russia, and China—that historically plundered Africa’s resources and continue to do so today, have found willing partners among some African leaders. This harsh reality persists because of deeply entrenched interests and mutual benefits that fuel the cycle of exploitation. This dynamic is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. Too many individuals and entities benefit from this arrangement, and many of these beneficiaries hold power in the very nations being exploited. Globally, resources are becoming increasingly scarce, unable to adequately sustain a rapidly growing population. With the world adding approximately 95 million people each year, the pressure on these limited resources is only intensifying—a situation that seems unsustainable in the long run. At the same time, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have been the largest contributors to population growth in sub-Saharan Africa, the fastest-growing region globally over the last two decades. However, these nations face significant governance challenges, with regimes that are often far from democratic. Paradoxically, these regimes are frequently aligned with external powers that perpetuate resource exploitation. The question remains: how sustainable is this model of growth and exploitation? And for how much longer can it continue? I truly wonder.

We cannot possess so much as a continent and act as though we have nothing! I am inspired by the efforts of many Africans working tirelessly to change the narrative about our continent. However, I believe we must do more to truly invest in Africa—building our heritage from the vast wealth of human and capital resources at our disposal. We cannot afford to keep carrying begging bowls around. Remember, he who plays the piper dictates the tune. It’s time to take charge and create the future we envision for ourselves. #AfricaRising #InvestInAfrica #BuildAfrica #AfricanInnovation #SelfReliance #RedefiningAfrica #AfricanHeritage #SustainableAfrica #EmpowerAfrica #ChangeTheNarrative
