This week's topic for “How it Relates” is Microlearning. Microlearning is a type of learning where you pick up info in quick, bite-sized chunks. Due in large part to platforms such as TikTok, Microlearning has increased in popularity in recent years. On TikTok, you can learn everything from cooking hacks to design tips all in less than 5 minutes. This platform provides access to easy-to-digest content and allows users to explore and experiment with new skills without committing a large amount of time. In UX design, Microlearning is great for staying connected to what users need. It helps designers pick up fresh ideas, adapt quickly, and create more user-friendly experiences. As an added benefit, it keeps empathy at the heart of design by letting designers learn and adjust based on real user feedback, making design more inclusive and accessible. #MicroLearning #UXDesign #IndustrialDesign #DesignThinking #UserExperience #LearningDesign #EdTech #DesignForLearning #UXTrends #ProductDesign #DesignInnovation #DigitalLearning #LearningExperience #UXTips #MicroContent #OnTheGoLearning #DesignForEducation #InteractionDesign #UserCenteredDesign #LearningInTheFlow

Wanted to share a win yesterday from a UX Product Deisgn training session I ran for a graduate cohort at a global finance and insurance company. After running everyone through a quick refresher on UX fundamentals, we dove straight into Figma to re-create an enterprise dashboard from scratch. Rather than working on individual files (as usual) I had the entire cohort working in one document at the same time. It was a bit wild at first — but honestly, super engaging and the perfect setup for giving quick feedback and helping everyone in real time. ⚡️ That’s the power of collaborative design: seeing everyone come together, exchange ideas, and solve real-world problems. It was amazing to see how quickly they picked up the tools and mindset of a UX Product Designer. Huge thanks for bringing me in to train the class — it’s inspiring to work with such eager minds ready to reshape the future of tech. 🖥️💡 #ProductDesign #Figma #TechTraining #UserExperience #UXDesign #Training #DesignThinking #ContinuousLearning

Some key takeaways from #MicrolearningCONF: 🧩 Microlearning is not a replacement or one-size-fits-all solution. It works best as a complement to other learning formats 🎨 Microlearning incorporates more considerations around LX (learner experience) and UX (user experience) compared to standard instructional design approaches 💰 Microlearning can be very cost-effective in terms of knowledge transfer and resources used to create the learning experience ⚖️ Certain compliance subjects may be more challenging to adapt to microlearning at first, as it requires pinpointing the vital information learners need to know These observations highlight the potential and challenges of microlearning in today's L&D landscape.
