Today is #GivingTuesday! If you are considering donating to a cause, please consider making an impact by donating to the Terry Scholars Fund. 100% of each donation goes directly to support Terry Foundation Scholarships! My life was forever changed when I received the Terry Foundation Scholarship that enabled me to graduate as a #firstgen college student DEBT FREE! You can read more about my journey and why I am passionate about spreading the word about the Terry Foundation Scholarship by following my link below because MY story is the Terry Legacy! #terrylegacy #TerryFoundation
This year, I am so excited to serve again as a Terry Legacy Day Ambassador! All three Ambassador roles— Storyteller, Donor, and Partner—remind me how fortunate I am to have received the life-changing #TerryFoundation Scholarship in 2007. I can never repay all that the #TerryFoundation continues to give me. Beyond the gift of graduating DEBT-FREE as a #FirstGeneration college student, I was able to complete a Masters degree, benefit from the remarkable Terry Community, support my family financially, and serve Terry Scholars as a staff member at the Terry Foundation. Please join me in furthering the #TerryLegacy to support future Scholars by visiting my partner page to learn more about my journey and why I think you should join me in investing in our future Terry Scholars. These remarkable leaders, are just like me, and need the financial barrier removed (over $30,000 per year per student!!!) to unlock their full potential at one of our Terry Affiliated Universities! 100% of each donation goes directly to funding Scholarships for Terry Scholars! https://lnkd.in/gTik-Tmp

It was an honor to give to Hope for Learning. Hope for Learning is a Richmond, VA-based organization, founded by Charles Caper, dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for underserved youth in the community. Supporting this initiative provides several tangible and meaningful benefits, including: 1. Empowering Local Youth Through Education Hope for Learning provides programs that help children build foundational skills in literacy, STEM, and other academic areas. This creates pathways for long-term success by equipping students with the tools they need to thrive academically and professionally. 2. Supporting Community Development When children are given the chance to learn and grow, it strengthens the entire community. An educated population contributes to reduced crime rates, increased economic activity, and a more cohesive social environment. 3. Supporting Innovative Educational Programs Hope for Learning often funds creative initiatives that go beyond the traditional classroom, such as after-school programs, summer camps, and technology-based learning platforms. .
On behalf of the Peoples Bank Foundation, associates presented a donation to Hope For Learning in Richmond, Virginia. 🤝💚💙 Hope For Learning is dedicated to supporting underprivileged communities. Their mission is to provide educational opportunities and resources to those in need. Learn more about Peoples Bank’s Commitment to Communities 👉 https://lnkd.in/g2R63DBU

I agreed to become a “Champion” for St. Mary’s College of Maryland this Giving Tuesday. This allowed me to select one fund to which all donations made under me as a champion would be directed. I chose the Kreitzer (Endowed) Fund for Chemistry for two reasons, first because it is endowed so the fund will not only never run out but will continue to grow, and second because it can be used for any aspect of supporting undergraduate research. The way the endowment is set up is that we can spend about 4% of the balance that is invested. Since the funds net an average return of 8%, so hopefully the endowment grows faster than inflation, providing more money to future students. We currently have enough in the fund to pay for two summer research students’ summer housing, not much, but it helps us wheel and deal to keep students in the labs over the summer. I am retiring at the end of this academic year; however, I plan on working with my department to try and double (or more) the Kreitzer fund. It is my hope that someday this fund will actually pay for two summer students completely, competitive salary and all. Our department is killing it on bring in external funds, with everyone in my department having brought in at least one National Science Foundation grants. We are publishing at an impressive rate for a small liberal arts college, and I am extremely excited about the person that just accepted our offer as my replacement. I’m leaving feeling great about where the department is and where it is heading. If you are thinking about donating to St. Mary’s College of Maryland this Giving Tuesday, please consider marking me as your champion. The more times we get chosen the more money our Alumni Relations will contribute to the Kreitzer (Endowed) Fund for Chemistry. You can get to my “Champion” site by following this link: https://bit.ly/4941XUs and follow these instructions. 1. Click the link and make a donation of at least $10. 2. Select Kreitzer (Endowed) Fund for Chemistry as your designation on the giving form. 3. Choose Andrew Koch | Kreitzer (Endowed) Fund for Chemistry in the Alumni Council Challenge section to credit me as your Champion! Thanks! Andy
