I had such an amazing time at London Demo Day last week! London Demo Day is one of the most inspiring nights of the year. I'm so privileged to be an Expert in Residence at the Imperial Enterprise Lab and to get to support the commercialisation of some of the world-class research that comes out of Imperial College London. At demo day, we get to see not just the Imperial Enterprise Lab's brightest stars, but also those from King's Entrepreneurship Institute , UCL Innovation & Enterprise, and LSE Generate. In total, 20 startups come together to pitch to a room full of advisors and investors. I'm unashamedly biassed, so I've highlighted the 5 from Imperial College London below for any interested early-stage investors. Matrix is raising £750k to develop an advanced MVP for clinical validation. Biofonic who have developed acoustic sensors to quantify and analyse soil ecosystems in order to minimise costly crop loss. They're raising £400k to speed up commercialisation. Carbon Cell who have developed a carbon-negative, non-toxic, fully compostable replacement for polystyrene and other polymer-based foams. It's made with Biochar and the initial target market is protective packaging, with a broad range of follow-on markets identified. They're raising £750k to support a large-scale commercial pilot. Phare Labs are addressing the £60 Billion that landlords currently spend on repairs and simultaneously helping renters live in safer accommodation by developing a smarter security system for rental homes that offers AI-powered fire, mould, damp, and intruder monitoring. Phare has exciting initial traction and they're looking to build new relationships with investors, customers, and mentors. upLYFT who build smart wearables that target mobility, muscle, and bone function decline in the elderly to improve muscle and bone health whilst helping to prevent falls. upLYFT have intriguing early traction and are raising £500k (SEIS/EIS). --- #startups #strategy #operations Hi, I'm Milly and I help founders win.
