I’m currently obsessed with The Authority Gap by Mary Ann Sieghart It’s a serious eye-opener. This book is shining a light on serious issues women face in leadership. I’d recommend it for everyone (not just women). 📍Hale Farm Campsite, Chiddingly, Lewes

Happy Women's Day! While I celebrate this special day, I want to discuss a strategy that might unintentionally hinder true empowerment. In some cases (like the case of Ethiopia at Universities), projects should include women to be considered for the selection process. These Policies requiring a minimum number of women on projects can feel performative. However, does simply having a woman present truly give her a voice and leadership opportunity? Counting numbers can be misleading. We want to see women driving initiatives, not just filling quotas! In my opinion, we better focus on projects with women as Principal Investigators (PIs). This positions women to lead research, mentor others, and gain valuable experience. This prioritize projects where women's leadership is clear and impactful. #womanempowerment

What's your favourite quote from my 'Re-birthing new life to leadership' research report? Here's mine: "It's like she's broken the glass ceiling and wants everyone to crawl through the broken glass on the way up like she did". I like it because it's so embodied with the broken glass, threat of harm, and crawling. It's quite a visceral and evocative description. But I also like it because it highlights that what has got women this far isn’t what’s going to get us the rest of the way. So while the efforts of generations of women have done much to progress the opportunities available to women, we’re now called to explore how we can take this forward, and what else we can do. Because what we’re seeing across research and practice now are generational differences where women are deciding that, if that’s what ‘leadership’ is, they don’t want to do it. If you want to find out more, and haven't yet read the report, you can find it here: https://lnkd.in/dwQXykZP #rebirthingnewlifetoleadership #motherhoodandleadership #womeninleadership

What’s holding women back from leadership and how can we overcome them? 🚀 Honored to be one of female leaders to share my insights on this topic featured on Spotlyts. We definitely need more strong women in leadership to create the changes we want to see in this world. It is why my next book with Wiley, Closing The Confidence Gap, is such a much needed book.
