🌍 CORSIA Update! 🌿 The Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) has reviewed and approved new carbon credit standards for its first phase. This update has significant implications for airlines and aircraft operators. 🛫 Key Points: - Compliance is mandatory for airlines on international flights between participating states, but states can opt for voluntary participation. - Airlines must retire carbon offsets before January 31, 2028. - Procuring credits will be limited to a selection of approved standards. ✈️ Airlines seeking compliance have three main options: 🔧 Enhance operational efficiency and fleet 🌿 Procure carbon credits based on CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units criteria ⛽ Transition to Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) Stay informed about the latest developments in carbon offsetting and the aviation industry by following our social media and blog. 📰 #CarbonOffsetting #CarbonCredits #CORSIA #SustainableAviation #ClimateAction

Unilode CEO Ross Marino, COO Janis Balkens and CCO Mohammed Akhlaq spoke to Edward Hardy from Air Cargo Week about how Unilode Aviation Solutions is "turning ULDs green". "Our commitment to sustainability not only aligns with market movements but also contributes to the growth of our business. There is a huge amount of pressure on airlines to operate more sustainably, reducing their carbon footprint, and our ULD pooling model provides that opportunity." "Sustainability is a complex challenge, and there's no single solution. Our commitment involves a combination of actions, including technological investments, personnel development, and strategic product choices, all working together to drive continuous improvement in our sustainability performance." "Our key focus areas are underpinned by operational excellence in terms of ensuring customers always have the assets they need at their disposal at any given time and location. But the real driving force will be technology paired with sustainability." Yesterday, our Founder and CEO, Carlos Muñoz, participated in the general assembly of ALA Asociación Líneas Aéreas. Alongside other key opinion leaders in the Spanish aviation sector, he took part in the roundtable: "Environmental, Economic, and Social Sustainability," where they discussed the future of passenger transport, its challenges, and opportunities in Spain and Europe. ✈️ During the conversation, Carlos underscored Volotea's strong commitment to sustainability and highlighted three key ideas: "In the aviation sector, everybody now agrees on the need to address climate change, and indeed, collaboration in the industry is evident; Europe has decided to lead in sustainability and decarbonization, which is a significant opportunity both for the industry and economically; sustainability will shape consumer preference in the long term, and therefore, airlines must work to meet the new demand." He also emphasized the importance of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as the only short-term solution to decarbonize the aviation industry and assured that there is still an opportunity to balance the use of SAF so that small cities and airlines are not affected by production and supply limitations. 🌍 #Volotea #AsociaciónLíneasAéreas #SpanishAviation

Aviation sustainability: A Tiny Step Forward. #Effort: The collaboration between #Neste and #AirNewZealand to supply #SustainableAviationFuel (#SAF) at Los Angeles International Airport (#LAX) marks a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions in #aviation. While initiatives like SAF adoption are commendable, achieving #netzero emissions in }aviation remains a formidable challenge. Despite progress in developing #sustainable alternatives, the aviation industry still has a long way to go to achieve its #sustainability goals. Investments in research, innovation, and infrastructure are essential to accelerate the transition to greener aviation solutions and mitigate the environmental impact of air travel. https://lnkd.in/gT8ztpCe

As execs from around the world descend on Farnborough International , how aviation will reduce its carbon footprint is one of its biggest challenges facing the sector. And UK airlines are bracing for a £500m green cost cliff edge. There are still more questions than answers; but what seems certain is that passengers will need to accept that they will have to pay more to fly in the coming years and decades. (And I visited the Olleco depot that collects used chip fat from Buckingham Palace- some of which will end up being made into #SAF Green flying will mean higher prices. Can it take off? https://lnkd.in/eWMVKf8V

The big three1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ insights for me from this aviation report. 1) "Bleisure" Travel Boom: ✈️🗺️💺🧳 The rise of "bleisure" or "workation" travel, where people combine business trips with leisure stays by working remotely from vacation destinations, has created new demand. Destinations in Central America, Southern Europe, South Africa, and Southeast Asia are thriving due to this trend. 2) Asia-Pacific's Aviation Growth Powerhouse: ⏫ Developing nations, particularly in Asia-Pacific, are expected to contribute 85% of aviation growth over the next 20 years. This region’s airports are poised for the highest growth rates globally. 3) Leisure vs. Business Travelers:📇💹🌏 Leisure travelers, who tend to shop more at airports due to relaxed schedules, are becoming a larger percentage of overall passengers. This shift could boost airport revenues as business travel declines. #AviationInsights #HSBC

The way forward to sustainable aviation: The plan outlines ambitious targets, starting with a goal of 5% SAF usage by 2025; 20% by 2030, followed by a significant jump to 60% by 2040. The roadmap then aims for an 80% utilisation by 2045, culminating in a 100% SAF adoption by 2050. The move goes beyond the current legislative requirements.
