🌍 CORSIA Update! 🌿 The Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) has reviewed and approved new carbon credit standards for its first phase. Yesterday, our Founder and CEO, Carlos Muñoz, participated in the general assembly of ALA Asociación Líneas Aéreas. Alongside other key opinion leaders in the Spanish aviation sector, he took part in the roundtable: "Environmental, Economic, and Social Sustainability," where they discussed the future of passenger transport, its challenges, and opportunities in Spain and Europe. ✈️ During the conversation, Carlos underscored Volotea's strong commitment to sustainability and highlighted three key ideas: "In the aviation sector, everybody now agrees on the need to address climate change, and indeed, collaboration in the industry is evident; Europe has decided to lead in sustainability and decarbonization, which is a significant opportunity both for the industry and economically; sustainability will shape consumer preference in the long term, and therefore, airlines must work to meet the new demand." The big three1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ insights for me from this aviation report. 1) "Bleisure" Travel Boom: ✈️🗺️💺🧳 The rise of "bleisure" or "workation" travel, where people combine business trips with leisure stays by working remotely from vacation destinations, has created new demand. Destinations in Central America, Southern Europe, South Africa, and Southeast Asia are thriving due to this trend. 2) Asia-Pacific's Aviation Growth Powerhouse: ⏫ Developing nations, particularly in Asia-Pacific, are expected to contribute 85% of aviation growth over the next 20 years. This region’s airports are poised for the highest growth rates globally. 3) Leisure vs. Business Travelers:📇💹🌏 Leisure travelers, who tend to shop more at airports due to relaxed schedules, are becoming a larger percentage of overall passengers. This shift could boost airport revenues as business travel declines. #AviationInsights #HSBC

The way forward to sustainable aviation: The plan outlines ambitious targets, starting with a goal of 5% SAF usage by 2025; 20% by 2030, followed by a significant jump to 60% by 2040. The roadmap then aims for an 80% utilisation by 2045, culminating in a 100% SAF adoption by 2050. The move goes beyond the current legislative requirements.
