Yesterday, our Founder and CEO, Carlos Muñoz, participated in the general assembly of ALA Asociación Líneas Aéreas. Alongside other key opinion leaders in the Spanish aviation sector, he took part in the roundtable: "Environmental, Economic, and Social Sustainability," where they discussed the future of passenger transport, its challenges, and opportunities in Spain and Europe. ✈️ During the conversation, Carlos underscored Volotea's strong commitment to sustainability and highlighted three key ideas: "In the aviation sector, everybody now agrees on the need to address climate change, and indeed, collaboration in the industry is evident; Europe has decided to lead in sustainability and decarbonization, which is a significant opportunity both for the industry and economically; sustainability will shape consumer preference in the long term, and therefore, airlines must work to meet the new demand." This morning I participated in a discussion at the #SAFEU (Sustainable Aviation Futures) Congress 2024 in Amsterdam, alongside Haldane Dodd and Aaron Robinson. Mission Possible Partnership’s Global Proejct Tracker shows that worldwide 33 facilities are producing sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), with 10 under construction and 131 plants announced. We need, however, around 300 SAF-plants by 2030, on our way to #NetZERO aviation in 2050. The journey has started, but we need to accelerate. Working together along the value chain between energy companies, airlines, airports and customers is key. Innovation is needed in the way we contract SAF. Supportive policies and regulations are required - and partly lacking. The good news is that we all, companies and private customers, can participate in this transition by voluntarily buying sustainable fuel when our airline offers this. #SAF #SustainableAviationFuel #NetZero2050 #airlines #aviation
