Zuck made a chess move. Meta expands mixed reality to more devices beyond Quest Headsets They just announced that its VR OS, now called Horizon OS, will work on devices beyond the Quest. And partners are already coming. Now, new VR headsets from brands like Asus, Lenovo, and even an Xbox version will soon be available. Future headsets will all be able to connect via the same Meta Quest app on iOS and Android that currently exists, but its name will change to Meta Horizon. the Vive focus vision was just announced! What catches my attention: Display Port supported for PC gaming. This is huge. I absolutely cannot stand Quest 3s latency and image compression when playing PC VR. It’s good to see a modern headset with proper PC support. Form factor - looks kinda sleek and light compared to the previous Vives - hopefully it’s less than 500grams. If they removed all the standalone/ Mixed reality hardware from the HMD, it could be even lighter and sleeker. Lost opportunity. The advert also claims that that the HMD has “lossless” streaming capabilities to the PC, but I’m doubtful considering that such a thing has not existed up to this point. We will have to wait and see. I’d be extremely excited about loss-less wireless PC VR if turns out to be true. Can someone point me to the specs sheet ?
