Fellow Grant Writers, Navigating the grant proposal landscape can often feel like a test of patience and resilience. Here are four common grievances I've observed: 1. The seemingly endless loop of repetitive questions from funders – it's as if they believe creativity lies in asking the same thing five different ways. 2. The relentless race against time, where the clock is an ever-present adversary, making us wish for a pause button. 3. The daunting shadow of rejection, lurking behind every submission, challenging our confidence in our craft. 4. And, selecting the most impactful program to showcase in our proposal, knowing well the transformative potential they all hold. Let's open up the conversation – what strategies do you employ to overcome these hurdles? Share your insights and let's learn from each other's experiences. Drop your comment below.

"Frequently, a conversation about a search begins with the question about what makes for a successful search. While there are many factors, the search process begins and ends with the Board of Trustees and its own governance. Because this is the entity that hires and supports the head and elects the board president, its health and functioning will set the stage for hiring the new leader, providing transition, and establishing the strategic goals for the new head and school. ..." This quote by Goethe resonates deeply with me. As a virtual assistant, I know the importance of applying my skills and taking action to help others succeed. But there's more to me than just my VA role. I have a passion for writing. It's my outlet, my escape, and a way to channel my creativity. Writing allows me to explore new ideas, tell stories, and connect with others on a deeper level. It's more than just a diversion; it's a part of who I am. Goethe's words remind me that it's not enough to just know what we're passionate about; we must actively pursue and engage in those passions. For me, that means dedicating time to writing, whether it's crafting a blog post, jotting down thoughts in my journal, or working on a new project. Knowing and willing are just the beginning—we must apply and do to truly make an impact. What passions drive you beyond your daily tasks? #PassionForWriting #MoreThanAVA #Inspiration #GoetheQuote #DoMore

COPING WITH TENSIONS WHEN INTRODUCING CO-CREATION IN PUBLIC BUREAUCRACIES As Asbjørn notes in his post, whether co-creation can fulfil its promisses and reinvigorate public governance hinges on our ability to cope with the tensions between co-creation and existing governance practices. Read about how this unfolds in 'Advancing Co-creation in Local Governance' that I co-edited with Asbjørn Røiseland and Jacob Torfing.
Co-creation is a highly celebrated idea in the public sector. But what do we do when co-creation clashes with old public governance paradigms? This book, edited by Jacob Torfing, Eva Sørensen and myself, presents a theoretical framework for understanding co-creation and the ways that public leaders may cope with the conflicts, dilemmas and paradoxes that arise when co-creation clashes with old-style bureaucracy and NPM. We apply this framework in empirical studies of the fate of co-creation in three different policy areas in three different Norwegian municipalities. The book is published with open access. Read! Do you want to know what may help (or may not help) your team share a vision? Blah, blah, blah. If you want the answer to this question, please read my new publication below. However, LinkedIn says this is my 20th publication (for all those who love to count publications). Given that it is my 20th publication, I believe the most important section of this article is the Acknowledgements section: "The publication of this manuscript represents the official closing (finally!) of a specific chapter in my Muppet man life and I therefore need to thank a few individuals and pets that were instrumental in this chapter of my Muppet man life. I thank my wife, Kristin, for always being there by my side through the many ups and downs of this chapter. I also thank our pets, Marty (our cat) and Jack and Timone (our dogs), for always being a respite during this chapter. I owe more thanks than I can give to John Hulland because my career simply would not exist without him. Finally, I thank Marc Street for his constant support from my days as an undergraduate student all the way up to his way too early passing. This manuscript is dedicated to the memory of Marc." And if you want help teaching your human kids something, please read my bio in the article! 😁

ICYMI: Here are some of my key lessons from holding 270+ listening sessions alongside key philanthropists and business leaders over the last several years. Some key takeaways: ✅ Know why you are traveling and practice transparency. Is the visit a learning journey? Are you looking to build trust and relationships? What will you do with your findings? ✅ Lean in on anchor institutions and community leaders who can open doors. At the same time, ensure that the people in the room reflect the diversity of the communities. ✅ Invest locally and practice radical hospitality. Use local vendors, obtain local gifts, and make sure to express your thanks. Read the rest at the link below. https://lnkd.in/eBkXQK_7
