Taking erythropoietin (EPO) or EPO receptor agonists (ERAs) is prohibited in sport. Algae to deliver cancer drugs to lungs 😲? Drug loaded nanoparticles were shielded with membranes derived from RBCs and attached to the surface of the green algae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. These algae "microbots" once injected can swim and reach deep inside the lungs due their flagellar activity. It seems mice tolerates algae in lungs and shows some therapeutic benefits, but algae in human lungs? TREK-1 is sensitive to a multitude of pharmacological and non-pharmacological stimuli that can potentiate and inhibit activity. These include TREK agonists, BL-124916 and GI-53015917, which can significantly enhance current amplitude.
